21 years ago today remains the only day in my life I've stepped foot in New York city. Watched the towers burn. I was 17.
Don't have much desire to visit again.
1. Always zero at 100 yards.
2. Stop thinking in inches. Is your scope MOA or MIL based? Learn the angular measurements of your scope, and the linear inches of drop at specifc yardages becomes a moot point.
The bushnell LRHS 2 from GAP is IMO one of the best value buys that exist at this time. It's $950.
I had my buddy purchase one for his PH2 and it went great with the gun.
Understand that. The bondstrikes are shaped more like the G7 standard, but Norma published a G1. I'd prefer to use a G7, but maybe best to stick to G1 of 530 for now as that seems to have more data behind it.
I chrono'd 10 shots of the Norma 180 Bondstrike 300 RUM ammo at an avg of 3334 FPS...
I did see another thread on a different forum that stated the .530 G1.
I'd prefer to use G7 though. .271 is roughly equivalent to .530 G1 so I might start with that and true up from there.
What twist is your rifle.
Longest I can go in my mags is 3.715. Do you have the extended bottom metal for yours?
I have the opposite problem. Have plenty of Retumbo (10lbs), but haven't found 200 AB's in years.
There are more quality bullet options for .27 caliber than their used to be, but they still pale in comparison to the multitude of bullet options for .30, 7mm, and 6.5mm.
So, why a .27 cal vs. one of the others?. ABLR's are notoriously hard to find in 30 cal. I wouldn't recommend a build...
If you want to competently shoot an elk at that range, you're going to need to practice alot. And, practice at ranges further than 1000.
My personal rule of thumb rule is I'm comfortable harvesting an animal at about half the distance I regularly shoot. For me, that's 500 to 600 yards as I...
The 300 PRC is a more modern and efficient case, and better ballistically.
If you already have all the 30 cal's you mentioned, the 300 PRC would be incrementally better but unless you're trying to push much heavier bullets than the Win Mag or shoot alot further than you are now I doubt you'll...
