I use Peltor 3M Lep-200's for both PRS comps and hunting.
Had them for 2 full seasons now, and used them in some pretty bad conditions. Water can cause them to scream a bit if they get very wet, but haven't seen any permanent damage from exposure to heavy rain. They always go back to normal...
This is why I shoot PRS matches. I'm a much better shooter under pressure now, than before I started competing. I also know how to better utilize structures around me to get stable. I hunt with a small and light bag, or a game changer with Git Lite.
Matches in their current form are not...
I've had two great experiences in Newfoundland in 5 years. For the price, hard to imagine a better hunting experience.
It's possible to get a big moose, but also just as likely to get a small 4 or 6pt. Research the area you're going to hunt and go in with proper expectations.
I wil say, for...
Fill out the u.s. CBP form, have them stamp it before you leave.
Fill out Canadian form 5589, and declare to the canadians when you cross.
It's usually pretty easy and painless on land border crossings, just make sure you paperwork is in order.
Um, no that isn't true. 6GT is a 35 degree shoulder like the 6.5x47L.
The 6GT case capacity is quite a bit less than a Creedmoor case.
6GT loads are using around 33gr to 37gr of powder (depending on the powder). The 6GT does well with loads around 33gr of Varget because of the smaller case...
Depend a bit if you handload or are going to primarily buy factory ammo. 243 isn't a bad round. You'll probably burn the barrel out in 1600 rounds or less.
If shooting factory ammo: 6.5 Creed, 6 Creed, .308 (TAC class) are your best options.
If you hand load, the options are somewhat endless...
I'm starting to narrow down options for a 2025 Elk hunt. One Outfitter that I am considering is Lobo Outfitters in Pagosa Springs, CO area.
Does anyone have any experience with them?
Thanks!
The picture is the exit wound on the 2nd shot at about 250 yards. The first bullet did significant internal damage as well. Missed bone so the exit hole was jot nearly as impressive.
30 cal, 180gr. Factory loaded 300 RUM. Running 3334 out of my rifle at the muzzle.
Returned from my NL moose hunt this weekend. Norma Bondstrike worked well on my moose. 1st hit was at 200 yards, lung hit just above the heart. 2nd hit was a quartering away shot at 250 yards that hit rib, and blew a massive exit hole (pic attached).
Both bullets exited.
I chrono'd the Norma...
