    Rental tent options

Have you spoken with outdoorsgeek about the option? A guy I hunted with about 5 years ago rented from them a couple times and ended up buying one of their tents after the hunt. I’ve rented some of their mountaineering tents and gear and the confirmation emails gave me a purchase price if I chose...

    Battery packs

+1 for Anker. I have the 28600 I believe. It’s a little bigger than needed but I can go in for a week and charge my phone, headlamp, steripen, and inReach without ever dealing with a solar charger. Going on 2 years now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Adding guy-out points

8 guy out points, one one each corner and one in the center of each panel. I would put them 18-24” up from the ground. Mark your points with the shelter up. The guyouts on the center of the panels will be a different distance from the bottom hem than the corner guy outs are. Sent from my...

    Fire Regulations in Colorado

Check with the specific NF where you’ll be hunting. Many of the NF here require you to have a permit to use a stove. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Removing thinsulate from boots

Has anyone tried to remove thinsulate from inside of a hunting boot? I got a great deal on some Kenetrek Mtn Guides but would prefer them to be uninsulated if at all possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    DIY 1lb 2-man Tarp/Tent

I have a standard zipper on my XL tut and have been plenty happy with it in the rain and snow. I would seam seal along the edges of the zipper being careful not to get it into the teeth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    DIY 1lb 2-man Tarp/Tent

Good job. Is the door section fully attached or removable? I built one very similar last summer. Here’s what it looks like with the side guys snuggled up. Still need to add the door portion of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Need opinions

Last time I bought anything on gun broker, credit cards and cashiers/ certified checks were the norm. Have people started using Venmo or Apple Pay in the classifieds here as payment options? If you have any extra money in your PayPal account I’d pull it out now. Your account will more than...

    DIY Tut XL

Eagle eye is right on. See from the bottom to the top and then you can trim anything left on the top and cover with the cap. Once I had my 4 sides, I then did a rolled hem along the bottom to clean it up. All panels were sewn with flat felled seams. You’ve got a ton of fabric to manage when you...

    South Dakota Camping Logistics

Hunted it this past season in mid November. We chose to go with the vacation rentals. They were very reasonably priced and a lot of them were hunter friendly. It’s the slow time of year so we could extend our trip as needed. It was pretty nice being two minutes from prime rib and drinks in...

    Cummins diesel, buy it?

That’s a great truck. A little high on the price for being that old. I bought one brand new in 07 for $37k out the door. No problems with it other than a couple trannys and water pumps. Over 180k now. The manual is almost bulletproof. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Pillow recommendations

I’ve used several inflatables and hate them. This past season I took a old pillow case and cut it down to 10x10. My wife was throwing out an old memory foam pillow so I cut part of that up into 1 inch cubes and stuffed that into the case that I made and finished sewing it up. This has been the...

    Drops

Not sure about the other areas but anything in 12 or 24 is very crowded. There’s a camp at every wide spot in the road. They don’t all get way back in but there’s just a lot of people anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think it will be fine as long as weight isn’t an issue for you. The heavier fabric may be a bit quieter in the wind too I would think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lost Park Parka 1/4 zip or Full

Sold the 1/4 zip for the full zip and never have regretted it. I haven’t noticed that it is colder. It does allow you to open it up and cool down when your active. It is also cut a little longer on the back. I like not having a hood that zips on and off too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
