It looks good. I’d have an extra insulating jacket for when you’re riding in on the horses. If There’s any weather in Oct. you’ll have a tough time hiking around at 9,000 ft. We had a couple nights at 2 degrees and days in the low 40s during first season this past year.

This has been pretty common practice in CA in the past. The FS lacks the funds to do much of any trail maintinence here due to all the fires. They basically allow the guides and anyone else to clear the trails while they look the other way. Otherwise there would be no access.

I’ve got one of the Helinox knock offs from amazon. Pretty much identical for a fraction of the cost. I’ll bring it in for base camp if we’re only going in a couple miles. Kind of bulky for a luxury item.

Does anyone remember if they came out at midnight last year or later in the day? I seem to remember them coming out around midnight.

I’ve used 5dimes recently. Never done the online poker but I do a lot of sports betting on it. Never any issues getting money. It is a little tricky setting it up at first because it is Europe based I believe and you got to buy bitcoin and then they convert it to US $. It can be pretty fun...
I ran my first ultra marathon a few weeks ago and brought some Cliff Blocks along. I had a noticeable increase in energy 10-15 minutes after eating a packet, lasted for 30 minutes or so. I tried one of the Muir gels and it was horrible. I think it was Vanilla Cashew.

I’ve got the xtherm and that’s all I use. I use it in the single digits in Colorado in October and backpacking in the summer in Northern California in night time temps in the 60s. I’ve got several bags and use the 30 degree bag in the summer with the xtherm and have never felt like it sleeps...
One last note, I heard about a year ago that the military has been testing a medication that would build up your immunity to it for 6 months at a time. Anyone else have more info on this?

I’ve gotten the same sort of reaction in the past usually out on fires. I can be completely my covered up and still get it in my forearms, behind knees and on feet. I used to go to the doctor every couple times and get the shots but after years and years of those I think that the long term side...
There’s no reason they should take this long, especially with most states starting to go all online apps. As much as I hate everything about CA, they’ve had the results posted 7-10 days after the deadline the past few years.

Haha thanks for the heads up. I’m in the same boat, got them for $125 but way too hot. I ended up ordering a set of their new wildland firefighter boots for work and I’m hoping those will cross over.

I’ve used the rei aluminum pole for two seasons now and it has worked really well. I had a piece 3D printed to slide onto the top of it.
