Who is the Toyota of small outboards 9.9-15 HP 4 stroke?

I live on an island and everywhere I go starts with the boat. All of the new 4 stroke outboards are reliable, not sure that there is enough difference between them to really count. Based on what I see in the marinas Yamaha is hands down the most popular kicker motor in both WA and BC. I have...

    Lessons from a wildfire

Do all states require out of state emergency vehicles to go through the same type of inspection before deploying, or just CA? I've driven trucks all over the west and the only state that required any inspections of out of state highway trucks was CA. They'd write you up for even the smallest...

    Lessons from a wildfire

Not sure what you're referring to but from the several reports I saw the engines were being held in Sac waiting on CA emissions certificates. Are we talking about the same thing?

    Lessons from a wildfire

I think that the Oregon fire trucks racing to help in LA that are detained in Sacramento waiting for emissions certificates kinda sums up what's wrong in CA. Edit: the fire trucks weren't held for emissions certificates, they were checked for maintenance issues to prevent breakdowns while...

How many of us regularly shoot at long distance for practice?

I regularly practice out to 100 yds. I'm not a great shot so rarely get close groups at that range but i think it really helps group size at shorter distances. It's also just fun to shoot that far.

    2025 MT Crazies Elk/Deer

Couldn't believe the number of rigs parked all along the road there this year. Had people pull over within 200 yds while we were flashing headlights at them. Gave up and went elsewhere.

    Freezer Alarm Recommendation Needed

I also ordered the Yolink because of this thread. Got it, hooked it up and works great! Thanks everyone.

She'll remember that for the rest of her life, and so will you! Well done Dad.

Which side arm makes most sence

If you aren't going to be hunting grizzly areas for at least 5 years I don't see a reason to go with a big revolver. 9, 40 or 10mm would all work well. Pick the one you shoot the best. If you do decide to hunt grizzly country bigger is better. I carried 357 until my first up close griz...

How ABSOLUTE LOW must one stoop?

Well that really sucks. The worst part (apart from wrecking his hunt) is that he'll never feel the same about setting up camp, ever.

    Vehicle Parking in Bozeman

I'd think you could park anywhere on the street in the residential parts of town (stay several blocks off of Main St.). Unless there is something posted there are no restrictions and we've never had any problems with theft.

What's wrong with more grizzlies in Idaho?

I wish your theory about grizzlies developing a fear of man if hunted were true, but it's not. As mentioned by someone else the Alaska grizzlies have not become timid little scaredy cats like black bears even though they are hunted. It's not in their DNA, they are named Ursus Arctos Horribilus...

    Island Park Grizzly Attack

Hope he recovers OK. Glad the partner had a firearm and knew how to use it.

Mauled by a brown bear and shoots himself

Glad he and his Dad are OK, close call. He said he unloaded the whole mag, 7 shots. Doesn't the Glock 10mm hold 15? Sounded like his Dad finished the bear off (after 6 point blank 10 mm rounds) with a 40 cal. if I understood it correctly.

What’s the coolest thing you found in the back country

Ran across a tornado track high up in the Crazy Mountains in MT. Took me a while to figure out what I was looking at- 25-30' wide swath where every tree was completely uprooted, broken and thrown in every direction. Couldn't figure out what kind of machine could do that, or why. Then it hit...

New hunter intimated to call elk.

I don't care how bad a caller you are, always have an arrow nocked before you bugle. Just sayin.

    Reminder: Mountains will kill you

Glad you are OK, that's scary. Good friend of mine died from rockfall hiking on a mountain, it's not that uncommon.

What and how do you carry your sidearm in the highcountry?

I just have a leather belt holster for my Ruger Redhawk 44 (4"). It's always on my belt so no need to worry about where it is when pack is off. I end up taking layers off and on too ofter so I don't like a chest rig. Do not understand the whining about weight, I'm 73 and 170 lbs and the 3+...

What camo pattern are you going to wear this archery elk season?

Same thing I've worn for many years. I think the pants are some First light camo pattern and my jacket is an old Sitka 90% with an equally old Sitka light weight hoody underneath. Hat changes with the current RMEF design. It works but ain't stylish.
