Can't go wrong with 180gr accubond or partition. Available in a few factory loads. (Nosler, federal, etc.)
I used the new 200gr terminal ascent from federal this year. Very impressed and will use it again on elk no problem. Factory ammo with a bonded bullet that shot just over 1/2 moa is a...
For deer id definitely choose the 280ai or 6.5prc. And with larger targets the 300wsm gets the nod, but you will feel it in that light gun unless you thread a brake on it.
I considered the ultralight pretty seriously and wanted the 280ai because of the shorter barrel, for a suppressor. In the...
The meostar s2 is far and above the best value in spotters that I have owned or looked through. Can pick up used ones for pretty decent prices if you are patient

I assume you don't have any points right now?? Late archery is about your only chance of drawing that soon anyways. Other than new mexico since they have no points. I think there are a couple new late archery hunts in NM now too.
I only know a few outfitters in nm/az and I'm not sure how much...
Neither the savage or tikka have awesome stocks, but I like my tikka one slightly better. Both the tikka and savages that I have shoot very well. The smoothness of the action of the tikka as well as the trigger makes it my preference. I looked pretty seriously at the ultralight but I decided if...
I bought a roughtech this summer as well, in a 300wsm. Tried a few different kinds of ammo, all shot sub moa, but terminal ascent federal shot 1/2 moa. Makes me wonder if there is something different about the roughtech. I had planned on "upgrading" it over the years but I am going to struggle...
Potatoe potato. Both great bullets. Likely never ever see a difference. Used the new terminal ascent from federal on an elk this year, also an excellent choice. I agree federal seems to get swept under the rug and I think that mostly is because they just don't have the flashy marketing Hornady...
They shoot extremely well and certainly kills critters. But I too switched back to bonded, less bloodshot meat and I just trust them a whole lot more

Definitely personal preference. Most would argue 14x is good out to a thousand yards. Old rule of thumb is 1x per 100 yards, for me thats a little light but I am real comfortable at 2x per 100. Out of all the elk I have killed I would guess 90% of the time I was under 10x. I dont even really...
Honestly no. I'm more of a mid tier guy just because it gets me a little better fit and finish over the cheaper ones. But accuracy is only marginally better till you spend a lot more and sometimes not even then. My tikka is definitely my favorite for the money. But there are many good brands...
I just went with through the same decision. Not sure there is a right or wrong answer. I really wanted to go with the 28nosler but somewhat limited factory ammo was the deal breaker for me. It is getting better as it continues to gain popularity. If/when I start reloading my own and decide to do...
You can probably get a little more out if the 280 with reloading, especially with the selection of bullets available. But both are very capable, likely never know the difference on game. Gun selection, ammo availability, and which side the coin lands on would make the decision for me

Meoptoa would be where I'd look first at that price range. But I've also had great luck with the leupold vx3i series scopes for the money. Something like a 3-9, 3.5-10, 4.5-14 etc range will suit you well.
If you decide to spend a little more the v4 series from zeiss has been awesome

Thats the way I understand it too. Need to be with you at all times during the hunt. But I'll be watching other responses as well

This is my first year with it. My range only goes to 500 so up and down to that with no issues so far. Haven't stretched her legs more than that very much to be honest. The turret feels far superior than my vx3i tho
