Yep google and Youtube have tons of information that will assist you. There are many good videos that break the processes down into manageable pieces. From simply gutting an animal, or doing a gutless method and breaking down the animal into more manageable pieces (aka "quarters") to storing...
I was on a WY elk hunt in my sawtooth floorless shelter and it snowed the day before we got there. Spent the first two days with my mat sliding all over the place on top of the snow along with the tyvek. It didnt help I was on uneven ground. Each night the pad would move down toward the bottom...
He was force fetched. He went thru 4 months at a professional trainer, first month was obedience and three months of Gun dog training. They had him retrieving ducks no problem. I also raise coturnix quail and have worked with him here at the house and in the back yard retrieving coturnix quail...
Yeah .just got in from a slow morning hunt. I've gone out each day since the opener on the first of Sept. Evening hunts have been better than the AM. Dove were moving before the sun came up, but once it got off the horizon and into the sky, its like the dove stopped flying. Going back out in the...
Thanks for the info so far yall. Much appreciated. We got overcast conditions on Sunday and slightly lower temps, so I took him out for a run/hike scouting a new area. He managed to find and flush one covey of Scaled quail, and we spent about 3 hours in the evening scouting for dove and quail...
So this will be my first year out with our Lab "Gunner". He went thru training over the winter and we have been working on him over the summer. Very excited to get out for the Dove opener, and then do some quail hunting with him this year, followed by Ducks and possibly Sand Hills in the late...

It must be a chocolate lab thing....our lab gunner is now 13 months old and the drive/desire to retrieve is off the charts. the trainers had to really work hard on steadiness. He watches bumpers get throw and its like crack to him!! LOL...he will shake all over and eyeball the marks. Then when...
i suck. 4 points and didnt draw in wyoming. Also came up empty in arizona and new mexico. sigh...... Looking ahead to next year, I have to agree with what a lot of yall are thinking for 2024. with the special draw price going up a lot next year, im gonna have to get real lucky to draw in wyoming...
I also have the reckoning and use it for a lot of different style hunts. Its great for day hunting or extended. With that said.....for what you described, the Stryker XL and camp bag set up may be your ticket because of how fast the bag detaches at the top for meat carry or camp bag insertion...
For those who said the draw results were in...i have this to say (quoted from the great Johny Carson Days;
"May the winds of the Sahara blow a desert scorpion up your turban! Or somewhere else! LOL....."
Come on already......not so patiently waiting. LOL
i hope to contribute to this thread in the 2023 hunting season. Got our 11 month old chocolate lab gunner back from his 4 months of professional training at the end of march. Now its time to continue his training wtih shed hunting, working on whistle sits, and some pile work before the heat of...
Is yours the XT version or the original Summit? Definilty looking forward to hearing more about this vest. I think ive decided on the Final Rise Vest, just have to pick a version and color now...LOL
Im from west texas and have been looking at Upland vests for the last few days. I narrowed the field to the Marsupial line and the Final Rise line. Called both companies and was able to speak to a person and get questions answered. Nothing wrong with the info I got from the marsupial customer...
Thanks Toner44. We got out to do our first training session today. Used the rubber antler and was pitching into the tall grass for him to "mark" and find/retrieve. It went well on day 1. I tried to keep it similar to his previous training so there is some "carry over". He was able to get out...
