That’s awesome that they can raise that much money for conservation, I had no idea the Gila tag would sell for 60k some people a lot of extra cash laying around..
That’s exactly what I would do... scout scout scout 3-4 days ahead of as much as possible ... you have enough experience to take a nice bull and save yourself lots of money.. no guarentees with an outfitter
Doesn’t anyone on here have kids/grandkids/wife/job? How do you guys hunt 90+ days a year... I have a great job with 7wks vacation and still can’t hunt near as much as most on here... I mean I get it if your retired and kudos to all you who can hunt and keep a family but gosh no wonder I can’t...
Congrats! I think they give preference to first time applicants bc most seem to have good luck drawing but after that it’s all downhill.. enjoy your hunt
My experience with 10-12 bulls I’ve killed is I usually get 130-200lbs of meat back from the processor. Small elk vs big elk.. boned out vs quarters.. can’t ever imagine getting 300+lbs back from an elk... could be the processor scales weighs heavy to charge more??

Yeah it Colorado lots of people but use them toward your advantage.. Be in shape, get there early before season to scout and get set up before others have a chance to stir them up.. Once they’ve been hunted you have to change up your tactics and go where others won’t.. Don’t give up after day...
