    double lung elk... don't typically make it very far! I shoot 150gr bullets out of my 270, and I have never needed to follow a blood trail, they all died quickly.

    There are elk there, but the country is BRUTAL. Be ready for lots and lots of dark timber and steep country. As other have said be very prepared for bears. I have hunted more of 520 and eventually was successful, but it came after years of work and in the end, I literally ran into a heard of elk...
