    Reliable Riflescopes

Thanks... For this thought exercise I'm thinking of scopes specifically without turrets, as I feel scopes with dials have been discussed at length already. Although I did just notice the 2.5-10x32 SWFA because of your post.

    Reliable Riflescopes

After reading the VX5-hd thread, I'm motivated to put this up here. I put together a rifle every other year or so, and have usually used Leupolds when I do. I have had a cheap Leupold fail, although not a VX5 or higher. I am a believer in where there's smoke there's fire, so I am looking into...

When can you put in for Montana tags?

Not sure where you heard that but there's nothing proposed right now.

When can you put in for Montana tags?

Gonna be a while still. They're still having their public comment meetings on proposed regulations. I'd guess mid February.

Montana resident looking to use my points

Point being, 10 points as a resident in Montana doesn't get you much of anywhere. Most the tags that have good odds with ten points, aren't any better than a general unit.

    Hoodoo Pass Idaho access

It's usually mid to late June before you can get a truck through. Guys go through in April and May on track to hunt bears.

    Montana unit for Elk

I know of quite a few wolves that have been killed in 270 incidentally by elk hunters. They are a very tough animal to kill, but the tags are so cheap there's no reason not to buy one. It's a good unit if you get snow late, but not a very good archery unit, and can be pretty slow in rifle...

    Thoughts on splitting 9 points

9 points in the special draw can get you a truly incredible, once in a lifetime type hunt. I personally think you'd be nuts to pass on that opportunity. With point creep the units you're looking at now will take 20 points by the time you can draw again.

    Montana unlimited

These guys DO NOT have a good reputation. I've heard some horror stories from their camps.

Using a boot dryer- yes or no?

120° seems very generous for a peet dryer, I wouldn't guess that mine gets any warmer than mid to high 90s. For a quick overnight dry I'd be very surprised if they damaged any footwear. Probably wouldn't want to leave them on there for a week on accident though.

    Missoula/ Alberton area

You can literally go weeks without seeing elk on public land while hunting in Mineral County. There are areas where winter survey flights are showing single digit elk populations. Yes, single digit. It is not a stretch to think that you will go from seeing what you see in a day around Bozeman to...

    Back from Idaho 20a

It's always amazing to me how much non resident pressure the Frank and Selway get. I mean I get wanting to see that incredible country, but my god is it low odds of success in there.
