I have a CA Mesa in 7RM and absolutely love it. It’s a tack driver right out of the box with every factory load I’ve put through it. I’m up to around 300 rounds down the pipe and it’s still getting better. I’ve had friends joke that I overpaid but every single one of them that shot my rifle got...
This was my thought exactly. There are a ton of opportunities in central Idaho that can be hunted on the cheap. Elk, white tail, and bear tags can all be gotten OTC in certain zones/units. All you need at that point is some gas and maybe backpacking gear if you’re hunting back country.
If...
The one I shot with the 7MM went down not far from where I hit it. I did also have the opportunity to get a shot right behind the ear on one ~200lbs with a .308 about 130yds away. My adrenaline was pumping but a hunting buddy said he heard the crack of the rifle then a heavy thud when it hit...
Accurateshooter.com has one as well. I’ve found it to be very reliable but you have to jump on the opportunity as soon as someone posts a product you‘re interested in buying. That’s the world we live in for the foreseeable, unfortunately.
Let me start by apologizing if this is not the right place for this question. Please feel free to point me in the right direction and I will re-post somewhere else. That said, I did do a quick search and didn’t find a whole lot of solid information on this.
I am lucky enough to be going on a...
I’ll jump in! First photo is of a brown caught on the Yellowstone in Montana. The second is a healthy rainbow caught on the Truckee in CA. Both caught on a 5wt fly rod.
I came here to say this. I have a Mesa in 7RM and it likes to be cycled very forcefully. No issues for me when doing that.
Edit: I should mention this is with factory ammo. Haven’t had the opportunity to reload and shoot pre-fired brass through it.
Checking in from the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. New to hunting big game but hunted waterfowl and upland for years. Long time lurker in the reloading forum so thought it may be time to finally contribute!

I purchased the Magnetospeed Sporter and I’m a fan. Over the past few months I’ve invested some serious cash in a reloading setup so an extra $600 for a chrono just wasn’t an option. Plus, I really like the fact that I don’t have to wait for cease fire at the range to get my data…
I guess I should have provided some context about the rifle and my intended hunting. I’m going to be hunting in Idaho and California with a 7mm Rem Mag. My hope in getting this scope was to have the ability to poke out a ways if an (ethical) opportunity presented itself as my hunting/shooting...
I already have the scope (and I do love it so far) so the duplex isn’t an option at this point. Sounds like relying on my turrets and not the BDC is my best bet. Appreciate the suggestion.
I’m just getting into big game hunting after a lifetime of bird hunting. Scopes are totally new to me so I’m doing my best to learn everything I can to effectively use the one I have. My scope, a Vortex Viper HSLR 4-16x50 has the handy BDC reticle. As I understand it, the elevation hashes adjust...
Unfortunately, I’m one of those getting into reloading after many years of shooting factory. Do the “Notify Me” buttons on Natchez and others actually work? Been signed up to get notified when primers come back in stock with no luck. Could just be they haven’t gotten any…
