I think it's a coincidence that those #s are 1 and 9 but I see why he would think it means 1-9. If it is he probably has the worlds only Tikka 1-9 twist .30 barrel and you better jump on it.

The early C models are easily distinguishable from the later models by the small tail and side gunner blisters. This one also had the 'meatballs' in the center of the white star.

If you're cheap the best way to get dermestid beetles is pick up a small dead critter on the side of the road, pretty much dried out preferably. Throw it into some kind of make shift aquarium/ dermestarium and add your dead heads. When all done kill the beetles with hot water and toss the mess...
The oldest I've killed something with is my mothers 1894 25-35, it was made in the late teens IIRC. I've killed a few deer and coyotes with a Model 1894 30-30 my grandmother gave me when I was 11. She was gifted it in the '30s and it was made in 1926. I hunted with it until I was 17.
