If you are looking to zero and true up the rifle to build a chart. Then all you need is a rock solid zero with 10 shot minimum.
Then head down range to true up either just before transonic (1350fps) if you have a long enough range or whatever the max range you want to hunt at. Shoot 10 rounds...
Tikka t3x 22” .223 in a rokstok with 10x swfa.
Black hills 77 tmk. Barrel has about 50 rounds down the tube just testing out a few factory options.
Hornady black 75 did 1.2” for 10
Xtac 77 otm did 1.4” for 10
Federal GMM 73 gr did 1.2” for 10
77 tmk were the fastest and the best group...
If you are shooting in the wind over 200-300 yards you will need to hold wind in the reticle. You won't want to be shooting game on max zoom with limited field of view with a SPF scope.
FFP allows you to hold wind at low mag which is critical in my opinion.
I went the tikka 1-8" 243 route.
I reload so that helps but it shoots the 108 eld-m's very well at 2800 fps. I figure i'll run this until it needs a barrel and then maybe throw on a 6 creed prefit. Definitely the easy way to shoot 6mm heavies right off the shelf.
Just picked up a tikka 243 1-8.
Shot well with both 103 Eldx and 108 Eld with h4350 and RL16.
10 shot groups at 41.1 grains 2804fps with 108’s and 41.0 grains 2884fps with 103’s both with H4350
Factory 22” barrel groups were right around 1.1 -1.2 moa 10 shot
