    Stolen Kifaru pack

The wife needed a pc of Kifaru for herself. We picked up one of the last E&E in typhon before they were gone. It has become our "purse" when we travel even if just to local ball games. Just the right size. She laughs when I "accessorize" it with pockets.

Great all around. The short barrel is fast in the brush. You can load them for speed or heavy. My brother can knock elk down from 50yds to 500yds all day long with his nearly 40yr old Winchester model 70.

    Truck Downsizing Question

I have the crew cab long bed. Plenty of room in the back seat for car seats. I can't speak for the extended cab on these.

Gutless method for deer....what end do you start with?

I have to admit I have poked the gut sack a couple times. Nothing like a big bull with a full belly. Just leave that move for last;) I save the loins for last after all the weight is off. Turn the carcass head down and gravity helps you. You can usually just reach right in most of the time and...

    Truck Downsizing Question

I have a 2018 Colorado with the mini duramax. totally love it. 26 MPG daily driving. freeway about 30. totally loaded going to ID to hunt got 27MPG. Comes with a full tow package including exhaust brake. I downsized from a F350 crewcab 7.3. No regrets. I don't need to tow anything really heavy...

    Packing out meat idea

As noted, get away from the carcass. In ID 2013, I shuttled about 1/4 mile to the top of the ridge. By the time i got the last load out of there, the wolves were right below me. The other real reason is to get to the cool spot. Once you learn an area, you will know those great little spots that...

small, handy cow call (rifle season) suggestion?

https://www.primos.com/primos-hunting/hunting-calls/elk-calls/cowgirl/c-24/c-106/p-286 I have been using this for years now. I quit carrying the hoochie mama. This fits in the side pocket or the top elastic on a AGC.

    Trecking pole supported Tent question?

If is a long trip, I will take my dedicated shelter pole. For a weekend trip, I will keep one with me to pack out or setup my spike tarp while the other is holding up the shelter. I have dropped my shelter on the ground to use both poles, and have never had any issues with it.

    Pack Style?

I like the top loader big simple bags. I have: Kifaru Mountain Warrior SG Terminus SO divide I run a Kifaru std lid with a L&L #11 hooked on top. Very light. I have started to love the Sherman pocket for its handy size. hooks nicely to the top of the SG or kifaru frame for hunt mode. The SO...

    let's talk emergency sleep/shelter setups

I have the insulated gloves, the tarp, the puffy pants. I never thought about ground insulation. I may add the ground sheet of some sort and maybe carry my stove and pot too. Someday it will happen to me too.

    Work Backpack Suggestions

I have had an urban zippy for a couple years now. I carry a big laptop and my leather binder. I can carry a handful of 11x17 drawings, just not in a binder. I have been really happy with it.
