    Gear secure in backcountry??

I’ve been fortunate and have not experienced any problems. Hopefully it stays that way and I’m not jinxing myself here. I started dropping a concealed trail cam along the road into my camp to catch the back license plate of a vehicle that goes into or up to my camp. So far its just been people...

    Salmon fishing

Washington, British Columbia, Oregon have some good salmon runs. I see the tag line says youre out of North Dakota. Lewiston, Idaho has some great fishing and is a relatively unknown destination to people outside the area. Salmon, steelhead, sturgeon.

    Pack with rifle

A Cabinet pack is a good pack for day hunts or occasions where you plan, or prepare, to stay out one night on a hunt. The universal Kifaru gun bearer works on those. Theres plenty of straps and buckles on a mystery ranch bag to cinch a rifle tight on back if its just hands free pack out thats...

    New Mexico maps

Does anybody have any recommendations for NM unit 17 maps in paper? I’ve got gps chip, looked at birdseye stuff but want paper map also. I see mytopo sells a 3’x4’ unit 17 map. Is that the better of paper maps for the area? I have seen a BLM San Mateo Mtns. is available.

Arizona makes a decision on trail camera bans

I think AZGFD is on the right track here. I think this is in the interest of the vast majority of diy hunters. Are they making the decision in the best interest of game or hunters? I dont know. I have a fair amount of experience with cellular based cameras and your standard sd card trail...

    Review Safir 9 Tentipi

If anyone has any questions about the tentipi I am willing to answer questions as well. I own a 9 person which is good for 4 people on the ground or 3 on cots with a stove. I’m not much of a poster on here, more of a reader but I will try. There isn’t a ton of information out there about these...

Wind-proof camping setup for WY antelope?

Hadn’t given the wind much consideration. My main concern has always been dealing with the warm weather during antelope seasons. The rains have been my second concern before. Ive seen spots get real slick or greasy without much standing water and even mud tires want to spin in it. That said I am...

What to look for in a tripod

When tripod shopping a few years ago I got some good advice while researching. You’re not going to find a great tripod in a sporting goods store. You’re going to find a better tripod looking for photography type tripods. I found a Manfrotto that worked great in a camera shop. Heads are similar...

    Alternatives to OnX maps

First post here but I have some experience with this. I have tried a DIY hunting gps chip. I thought it was ok, fair. I think $30 was about the appropriate price for what you get. It is not near what the onX gps chips are. I have tried the onX download for phone or tablet and I had a terrible...
