Other than pellet count, you would see similar performance between steel 3's and bismuth 5's; maybe even a little better penetration with the 3's if they are starting at a higher velocity.
19 F150 lariat. 41K miles. Been running full synthetic since I bought it with 13K miles. Consumes around 1 quart at 5000-6000 mile interval oil change schedule.
I know a few different guys that guide starting down in Arkansas for the spring CO. I'd pick an outfitter that moves spreads daily to stay on fresh feeds down there. in NE or SD, I'd pick an outfitter that has at least one pit with a migrator spread, preferably over water. Afternoon migrator...
Changed plans on the drive out to hunt yesterday; my buddy and I jumped in with another friend who was already set up for a fun 3 man shoot. No big spins, but every bird was shot inside 30 yards.
Man what a difference the weather change made. Headed out shortly for hunt #3 in the same field since Saturday afternoon. Going to try divers tomorrow morning for something different.
Your best non-dog owner, budget friendly bet for SD would be to find a guide service that doesn't operate big lodge packages; book your own hotel lodging, and be responsible for your own meals. I'll try to post up a few I know of that fit the bill.
143 gr eldx out of my 6.5cm at 205 yards broadside, double lung & heart, buck took two steps and tipped over. You'll be fine with any of those bullets on a goat.
We'll sometimes hunt them in central SD. 30-40 dozen silhouettes. Set the spread wide. A-frame blinds, or backboards/ghillies off an irrigation pivot. If your lungs don't hurt at the end of the hunt you weren't doing enough calling. I don't really enjoy hunting them honestly. It's as much...
I'd agree with that; when you're first starting out. Once you understand flightlines/traffic, decoy visibility, flagging, and calling, the X isn't near as important.
You can kill ducks all season long with 10 year old waders, a dozen old duck decoys, and a pocket full of 2 3/4" steel 3's. Binos, windshield time, and learning the patterns of the birds in your area will get you more birds than any other piece of gear. That being said, I have a storage unit...
You can see 5-10 banish 30's or the previous versions the varminter 1/2/3/4 at the range I shoot at any given saturday. Nobody is bashing the cans. Most of the end users like them for what they are. Hell some of the guys at the range are Silencer Central employees.
If you do some reading...
I've never seen a tall sized traverse in the wild. If you find more than one I'd buy it though. Just bought two size XL. Sleeve length is sufficient, which was surprising.
I drive by their new office/warehouse daily. No desire to stop in. Mack Bros makes the banish silencers. Buy a mack bros titanium silencer for $150 less than the banish. SS is one of the fastest growing companies in SD, and while I applaud them for bringing a convenience based purchase...
