Recommend me new mid-late season pants

I'm already wearing quality base layers as mentioned in my first post; and packing in bibs for additional warmth when sitting. They sit really nice between my pack and frame on the MR pop up 28. Just looking for a warmer hard use pant I guess. I'll take a look at the ones you mention. Thanks...

    South Dakota mule deer

Yep we need to continue hammering the GFP commission into submission until there are significant changes to tag allotments for does, non resident archery, etc. for both WT and muleys. I drew statewide muzzleloader and spent Dec 26-Jan 1 bouncing between Fall River Co, the hills, and the...

Recommend me new mid-late season pants

Here's what I'm looking for: Abrasion & moisture resistance similar to sitka timberline pants (seat/knees), but with better warmth similar to the sitka dakota pants. Spent 5 days in the SD black hills chasing mule deer and whitetail with the muzzle loader end of december in temps from single...

    Aero Precision Customer Support

Aero QC and CS really dropped off during the pandemic and has not recovered. Used to be a great mid-tier option for AR parts. Other than their barrels I won't use their stuff anymore though.

Replacing an extra fast action spinning rod. Recommendations?

Before my buddy started building custom walleye rods built off Bushido and Rainshadow Immortal blanks, I used a variety of Okuma Dead Eye spinning rods. the Dead Eye Custom DCS-S-681MXF would fit your parameters and can be found for $100 if you shop around. Otherwise take a look at some of the...

    Winchester SX 3 ?

Main issue with SX2/SX3/SX4/Gold etc. is learning how to properly clean and maintain the recoil spring in the stock. Most don't know they have to clean this spring, especially when first purchasing. Run a bunch of rounds through it without cleaning and you'll see cycling issues rather fast...

    Midway clearance

Midway's clearance gets me for thousands of dollars a year. Especially the fishing gear. Just ordered $445 worth of ice fishing lures for an average of 60% off.

    SD White River Whitetail

It's an area prone to EHD (what part of the state isn't anymore). A former co-worker of mine used to have some family land along the white; They shot great deer every year it seemed like; but they consistently had issues with poaching/trespass. Something to consider if you pick up the lease...

Kent Bismuth issue - always verify what you’re purchasing.

Great thing about tungsten (hevishot) is that the pellet shape doesn't really affect anything all that much. Guys were chirping about the welding slag shape when hevishot started loading it that way years ago but there wasn't any noticeable difference vs. more expensive round tungsten loads...

    Best beginner mallard call?

Lots of great recommendations so far. At the end of the day, which call you have isn't super important. What is important is proper instruction. 1 on 1 instruction is best with an accomplished caller. Youtube and other instructional videos are the next best, then straight audio files after that.

Kent Bismuth issue - always verify what you’re purchasing.

195 pellets would be right at 1 oz for #5 bismuth. My first thought would be they screwed up packaging or something similar on a run of 1 oz loads, but looking at the website, they don't offer a 1 oz load in 12 gauge. It's quite possible they are trying to sneak one by the consumer. I ran...

    Let’s talk carbon monoxide poisoning

This is the best course of action if you're going to use a heater. Personal CO detectors are the way to go period. The only reason heater companies install "Low O2" switches is because some manufacturers got sued years ago. THESE SWITCHES DO NOT REPLACE CO DETECTORS. You can have lethal...

    Migration 24

Most BWT have moved on and starting to lose local pintails where I've been hunting in east-central SD. Noticed Squaw Creek refuge in NW missouri picked up 25,000 pintails this week, so that correlates. Scouted a slough I hunt on Friday afternoon on my way to the camp ground for cast & blast...

best general purpose STEEL shot-size for combo of big & small ducks?

30ish ducks shot so far this season, majority with steel 6's. a few 3's or 2's for 3rd shots. 50% blue wing teal, the rest a mix of 7 species big and small. I'll continue to use mostly 6's over water, especially when solo. As we start field hunting, I break out the 1's & 2's. I do use...

Just Got Scammed on Hunttalk. Need some help/ Warning @Grud

Many scammers take pictures from "completed sales" on ebay. Been seeing this a lot for boat sonar, trolling motors, and optics. Nice thing is they show up quick in the google lens function.
