Headed to the Gila on Friday for a second archery season elk hunt from Idaho. Driving through some desolate country with out much FM coverage. Any suggestions for some good Ebooks to kill the time. Hunting themed preferable.
Remember thermals are going to be flowing down hill until mid morning. Make sure you're below elk early in the morning. Don't know about your area but they tend to switch around 9 am where i'm at.
Idaho definitely has some strange challenges. For example I can buy a 3 year hunting license but can't buy a 3 year archery stamp. So even though I have a license I still have to go in every year and buy an archery validation. requiring having to print out a new license every year. PITA!
Getting ready for a Gila hunt and had my bow dialed in when the serving started coming apart. In the bow shop as we speak getting a new string. Stressing how messed up tune and sights will be when I finally get it back. Not the time of year to be getting a new string.
Running KO2's on my F-150 great in the snow. I typically put on 40K plus per year and perform well on highway with manageable road noise. Did drop my gas mileage about 2 MPG vs the Good Years it came with.
Never needed more than a 5wt for any trout fishing in Idaho or Montana. Had some epic battles though. Did loose a big brown in heavy river flow that almost spooled me twice, but I don't think a 9 wt would have landed that fish.
While terribly painful, I am so glad you shared this. I have already forwarded the message to people I know who's family is in the at risk group. I also plan to have a strong conversation with my 15 year old son later today. Maybe some good can come out of this terrible tragedy. This...
I really like intervals on the suckmaster, i mean stairmaster. Can add weighted pack to make it more challenging. Just completed 45 minutes and 200 floors 1 hr ago and the damn thing looked like I sprung a leak when I got done. For me much easier on the hips and knees then running. I try to...
Okay I'll weigh in. After yrs of working on religiously kind of got burned out and switched jobs with my company which didn't allow for consistent workout times. Swelled to 222 at 6'. Last years elk hunt nearly killed me. Fast forward to May and drew a Gila elk tag. Figured what the hell...
Thank you everyone for the reply's.! Got a couple solid options to look at. Hate to have to change up from a solid round that I know what it does out of my rifle.
Yes and No, they are still listed on their website but no stores close by have them in stock and can't find an option to have them shipped. I'm thinking their discontinued and just clearing out inventory.
It is the 140's I'm shooting, was going off memory which at my age is dangerous. Someone else suggested looking at Doubletap, I'll do that. Not listed on Barnes website and Sportman's warehouse doesn't have them. Hopefully, can find them. Taken 5 elk with them and they haven't let me down...
I miss quoted wasn't the 142's it was the 140's. I'll check Doubletap. Concern was they are no longer listed on the Barnes website and no longer available at Sportsmans warehouse where I normally get them.
Thank you
I've been shooting factory 142 grn Barnes tsx's in my 280 Remington for years with good results. I can't find them anymore and don't see them listed on the Barnes website. Looks like I am going to have to switch. Looking at the Hornady precision Eldx's at 150 grains. Gonna pick up a box and...
This thread has encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and experiment a bit. My stand by's have been Bulliet and Eagle rare. Picked up a bottle of Angel Envy and found it outstanding along with a bottle of Four Roses small batch that I liked but not as well. First time I had seen Angel...
