My last two elk have been killed with a single shot and dropped within 20 yards using 270 cal 130 gr Barnes TTSX. Last year's bullet barely expanded (first pic). This year's was much better. Both found just under the hide. Is this normal?
Not complaining, I just expected the bullet to pass...

HIking back to the truck after a morning of steelhead fishing with a friend in the remote Oregon coast range. We were following an old grassy decommissioned forest service road and spotted a mountain lion walking toward us. He was a couple hundred yards away at that point and eventually saw us...
I wear a sacrificial t-shirt while hiking up to my stand/hunt area. It's soaked by the time I'm done. Dump it, swap to base layer, mid layer, etc and retrieve on the way back.
I had one for a few years and thought it was a solid all-around spotter for the price (on sale). Only replaced it because I wanted something lighter weight for backpack hunting.
I was in your position a couple years ago and after trying a few other comparable models (SLC, Ultravid and Razor) ended up with a mint used set of 10x40 Zeiss SFLs. Really impressed with them so far.
