    Longevity of the 7mm-08?

    I sure enjoy my 7mm-08. I find it meets the sweet spot. I shoot the 120 BT for speed goats and WT and can shoot heavier should I have a chance to go on a elk hunt. (of course, I'd use the elk hunt as a reason to buy a new rifle...but, that is beside the point)

    Caliber recommendations

    Much like Vern said above me. A 7mm-08 with 120gr ballistic tips is hell for whitetail, pronghorn, mule deer, and hogs (at least here in Texas). It kicks like a little pussy cat. Had a elk trip that fell through, but was going to shoot the elk with 150gr Accubond.

    Seekins Havak Element 6.5 PRC

    Lots of guys use the eld(m) with great results on game. If you're going to try the ELD loads/bullets, I would encourage you to try both the X and the M and use whichever one shoots better in your rifle.
