Yeah, I’ve found that to work, too. I’m always nervous that adding tension to fix sag will overstrain the shelter or my stakes when everything dries out.
Still, my silpoly tarp has required zero maintenance to maintain a perfect pitch, so in the future, I’m going to go with silpoly over...
Thank you all for the feedback! Sadly, my budget isn’t quite up to some of the suggestions, and I’m pretty much limited to whatever I can trade my P226 for. Mid tier is my goal here. Good to know about the 1187 is crappy weather. The one I have the option to get is a pre 2006 gun, I am pretty...
When you’re running the stove, it does dry out and tighten back up, but in my experience, it’ll sag a good bit just from overnight condensation, let alone some precip while you’re out for the day.
If I had to do it over again, I think I’d get the argali. The silnylon on my Cimmaron sags so much at the slightest hint of moisture, while my silpoly tarp stays taught as a drum.
Hey Guys!
I’ve been shooting skeet and sporting clays with borrowed guns since I was a kid. I’m also an adult onset hunter. I’ve been turkey and pheasant hunting with my bow for the past 3 years, but now I am in the market for a semi auto shotgun that will spend most of its time running through...
I’ve been looking forward to the cirque light vest since the regular cirque vest dropped last year. Wish it had a hood, but alas. Mine gets in early this week. Fingers crossed the fire is as good for me as it is on their other garments.
I was just thinking about how the full zip compares to the Ambient. I’ve been rocking a naga full zip as my go to mid layer since they came out, but I’ve been very intrigued by the ambient.
If I were a buying a tent for car, horse, or plane packing, that would be it! But I’m a backpacker, so it’s not really an option for me. But that doesn’t stop me from wanting one
I was obliged to sell the firearm that my Vortex Viper 1-6 inhabited and used that money to buy my first muzzle loader. I’ve been a bow hunter for the past 2 years and am looking forward to my first foray into firearms hunting.
In my state you can’t bow hunt during firearms season on most...
I got went with 112 inches wide and 10 feet long. I originally was going to get a perfect square, but the slight rectangle is nice. And yeah I did straight edge.
After using the tarp more, I think I like my decision to use the regular loops. I got some line locks that have hooks for my guy...
Just got mine! After the initial fitting, I’m pretty excited by these. My only other pair of gaiters is a pair of vortex gaiters I bought almost 10 years ago. I’m taking these on a 3 day winter backpacking trip in a couple weekends and I have high hopes.
I use my K3 4800 for saddle hunting, but I’m a DRT guy at the moment. I get the platform, rope, saddle, and a couple extra layers in the pack no problem. I usually run it without a lid and with the top rolled down about as far as it will go, and it’s great.
