My daughter drew the same hunt I had last fall. We saw more, and better quality bucks in tall sage as opposed to the short stuff. No clue why,but that's where we will be starting this year.
180 Hornady Spire point. Cheap. Priced for practice, and kill like nobody's business. 100 in a box like it should be too. Bout $27 a box at Midway I believe.
My 300 WSM shoots fantastic, and I sure wouldn't muzzle break it. Recoil is quite tolerable. The 338 Win mag with full house 250s isn't a recreational plinker. The 300 Win mag should be just fine.
Brought her in on a horse trade. Painted the stock. Like most light weight magnums, it was very lightly used. Figured I'd end up flipping it. Mmmm, may have to keep her around.
Not bad. Full house 180s and up will be more pronounced. These are on par with a hot 30/06. This is my second T3 300 WSM. THhe hot 180 TTSX I shot in it got your attention.
Shot the Tikka 300 WSM today. It is infact growing on me. Not too shabby for a middle of the road load, with a not so exciting powder.
The first shot was an Abond to confirm zero. It landed exactly where I left it last session. Cranked the VX3I over an inch and proceeded to empty some more...
Any Colorado deer tags in hand yet? My daughter drew her first this year. Pretty jacked up about it. She has been hanging around the mail box like Charlie Brown on Valentine's day, lol. I told her sometime the first two weeks of July typically. Anyone get theirs yet?
Assorted 130 grain .277 bullets. Fired into jugs at 100 yards. All over 55 grains of Imr 4350. The Barnes on the end of the line is the 110 grain TTSX. Also caught at 100 yards. The charge weight escapes me at the moment.
Left to right are the Accubond, old school Grand Slam, Hornady Spire...
Absolutely Capt Craig. I was on a very rough truck based hunt. Considered taking my Kimber Classic select. Glad I didnt. Roads in and out of the BLM were off the charts. With all the rubble in the back seat, and the smooooth ride of the F350, it would have been a tragedy.
By weeks end the...
