Resurrecting this thread since I've been reading about the Raptor 8 and was set on that... Did you ever experience POI shift with the reflex?
Now I'm torn between the Scythe Ti (if I can ever find one in stock) and the Raptor 8 🤦🏻♂️
I was almost set on a Seekins PH2, but the B-14 Squared Crest in 7 PRC is in stock for less than the cost of the PH2 at my local Scheels... Everything in me says to go Seekins, but I love the look and feel of the Crest. Anyone have experience with both?
I just saw that Federal released a 155g terminal ascent.. if I can find those I’ll see how they shoot. I don’t hand load so if I can’t find the TA’s I’ll probably go with the ELD-X
Called Proof and they said you can order an 18” blank and have it chambered. Not sure if I want to go that route and pay a gunsmith for the extra work. I’d almost rather deal with a slightly longer barrel and do a prefit.
I'm looking at Proof but open to others, I don't know that Proof makes a CF barrel that short. I'm not too worried about velocity with shorter barrels since I typically hunt elk + mule deer and I'm never taking shots that far. Thanks for the info!
The element is a 22” barrel. That’s the length I’m looking at for the Proof CF barrel, I’d like to suppress it eventually.
Very good to know, thank you! Part of my reasoning was the fluted bolt and barrel (which I’m going to replace anyway) but that’s helpful. I did read the Stockys is fine...
Ok I need a little help. I’ve been waiting on a Seekins element in 7 PRC but now I’m having second thoughts. I know I won’t regret the Seekins, but I really still want to build a Tikka.
I’m looking at a Tikka t3x Roughtech:
- Stocky’s Tikka Hunter VG
- Proof Sendero prefit CF barrel
Brownell’s...
I decided to buy. 7 PRC ammo is much more available now, I’m waiting on a Seekins Element in 7 PRC.
I will build a rifle one day, but my thought process was, this is a rifle I’m gonna shoot a handful of times per year so it’s not worth spending $1000 more to build one. Although that’s the plan...
Really interesting. I just got back from an elk hunt here in Colorado and didn't have any issues. Several morning were in single digits, and one day we got 30 mph winds and snow, I didn't have any issues with the display. I actually would turn it on and check every couple of hours to make sure...
Coming back to this because I think I saw a post today in a Colorado hunting group, a rifle built by black canyon customs! What was your total cost? I’m considering reaching out to them since I’m in CO.
Good to know. It will be for hunting. Anyone have tips on the best option for a balance of weight, length, suppression? I’ll likely have this on the Element 7 PRC which is a 21” barrel.
I do like the folding stock. We hunt very deep backcountry in CO and I think it would be helpful, but not a deal breaker.
This is gonna send me down another entire rabbit hole lol.
