Elk Calling for Dummies

Your on the right track, I got his playbook and the MP3's with what the sounds he talks about sound like. Helped out a ton of when to use certain sounds. Good luck!

Lets see your arrows

Bigeasygator, do you name those wraps too! Ha Ha....I noticed you put your wrap below your fletching, is that just because you didn't want to cover up the ladies, never saw it done that way before.

Bow site question?

I shoot a 3 pin Black Gold Ascent. I chose the 3 pin because like the others less clutter. I set my first pin for 27yds. with my bow that puts me about 3 inches high at 20yds. and 3 inches low at 30yds. the next pin 40 and the last at 50. I then used Archers Advantage software to make my sight...

Campfire, yes/no?

Archery season in Utah usually the Forrest Service has fire bans, so we can't have a fire in the early season. Would I have one, probably not. I'm a scent freak bowhunting. On a rifle hunt we always have a fire, the in-laws love a fire and I don't generally have a tag during the rifle season. It...

Who builds their own arrows?

Got tired of fletchings falling off years ago. I have mine cut at a shop as I don't have an arrow saw. I tried cutting them with a dremel tool once didn't work to well. I use a small wrap, blazer vanes and a Bohning Blazer Helix jig. Do you guys find that wraps help your vanes stay on? I haven't...

goodgrouper, the fabric is made out of a laminated microfiber brushed tricot fabric, it is soft to the touch and pretty dang quiet for rain gear. The full zippers in the legs make getting them on and off over your boots a piece of cake. The main jacket zipper is a bit tough to do up, but I think...

Replace my 90% jacket?

Core4 Element jacket does a pretty good job in the wind, is very comfortable, and is in the Mountain Mimicry pattern that you are looking for. It is also priced a lot better than some of the other brands.

Deodorant?

I am a believer of a good non scented deodorant, I like arm and hammer the hunting deodorant feels like glue under my arms. My brother douses himself with a good smelling something or other that he wears every day, I can smell his deodorant from a 100 yards away when the wind is blowing my way...

leupold range finder - not waterproof?

For what it is worth I have a Leupold RXII (older version) and strap it to the outside of my arm. I have been in some pretty bad rain and snow storms, and it has never let me down, has always read the correct distance and never fogged up. I was pretty impressed with the amount of water it took...

17 Below Zero at Idaho Falls

When I left for church at 9:00am it was -17 here too in Utah. About a week ago I worked in Cokeville Wyoming and it was -28 for a better part of the day.
