Has anyone flown meat home from AK with Delta Airlines? If so, how'd it go? I have the opportunity to throw some SkyMiles at an upcoming caribou hunt, but won't do that if Delta is a PIA dealing with meat and antlers.
I've had some caribou steaks and caribou chili, cooked up by my good friend in Delta Junction, Michael Rogers. It was some of the best wild meat I've eaten over the past 40 years of big game hunting, right up there with elk. Looking forward to bringing home some caribou meat from unit 23 this...
Great hunt report! Three of us are headed up to Unit 23 this coming September, so our hunt is later in the month than yours. Really enjoyed the photos and hunt details, as well as the travel and logistics comments later in the thread.
Here are a couple of videos I made about my truck camping setup, which is always a work in progress...

I have for sale a like-new set of high quality G10 scales for the ESEE-3 knife. These are the excellent scales made by The Knife Connection specifically for ESEE knives, and I consider them the best out there. These are the extended "field" model, original scales TKC came out with. They fit...
I nearly always hunt, fish, and guide in mountainous areas that have no cell coverage. I have a need for short range (1-5 mile) communication. I've looked at hand-held walkie talkies, but the effective range seems poor at best, given the type of terrain I'm in. I've also looked at GPS/Radio...
I have a new Vortex Diamondback 20-60X80mm spotting scope, and my Slik Sprint Mini tripod is too small for it. I do mostly backpack hunts, but also do some burro packing and I like to glass elk and other big game from my truck. I've done some research online for quality tripods, but I'm still...
I see that Kuiu doesn't sell small sizes, so I wonder about the medium? Do any of you small guys out there have Kuiu clothing, especially tops or jackets? I'm 5'7" and 130 pounds with a 38" chest. I know, I know...pretty buff, huh? Do you think the Kuiu medium is too big? Thanks in advance!
I understand the need to have the tool for fitting with Kydex. I've contacted two different makers, letting them know I'll ship them my hatchet. Thanks for the inupt guys. The Mini Hatchet, and my Cold Steel Trail Hawk, are the most useful tools of that kind I have. Both will be wearing...
Not really. I've hunted them on day trips from my home in south-central Colorado, and have attempted to hunt them on short backpack trips that always resulted in no birds seen. I would LOVE to backpack in for a few days, kill a bird, and haul him out. Perhaps someday! I've killed a bunch of...
Sorry aggieland, just now catching up here. The Iwana is a great choice. I have one and I like it. As for lines, there are some things to consider. I recommend you read through some of what Chris Stewart over at Tenkara Bum has written about lines. That being said, I have become somewhat a...
