I’m not entirely sure. I’m thinking that it would be too short of a scope for you to use one piece rings. If you are dead set on using that scope for that rifle you may have to use a weaver or picatinny type rail. You just might be able to make it mount up. It is probably really close, but you...
You will get get the best results with it set up. As mentioned above the seams should be taught. And cutting the silicone sealant makes it way easier to spread. Also helps to clean the seams with a little rubbing alcohol and let dry before applying the sealer. I waited for the silicone to set up...
Neoprene covers are pretty nice. They offer a little protection to the the entire scope. If it’s pouring down then you are going to get some water inside, but not terrible. I’m usually pulling mine off before coming over ridges or coming into an open area I might expect to see game.
I do this for an area that I frequently hunt. There’s a reliable water source about the last 1200’ from the ridge line where I camp. I hike right past it on the way in. I have used a gravity filters to filter into my MSR Dromedary bag. But I’ve also used MSR Aqua Tabs. Drop in a few as per the...
I’ve had the Black Ovis bags for a few years they have held up well and are easy to get clean. Just last winter I got a set of the argali game bags. The argali bags are significantly lighter and pack down smaller. Are they the lightest? No, probably not. But they are pretty light.
The extreme weather stock is made by Bell and Carlson. If you don’t end up finding one on the used market you can get a new one directly from them, and with more color options. Won’t be bedded to an action, however it has a full aluminum bedding block. I have had good luck with them on a couple...
I’d find my pound elsewhere for several reasons, having a low end magnification of 7x being just one of them. I’d probably opt to go with a VX3i 2-8x32 and save only 4oz instead. A rifle scope isn’t built to be an observation piece, but an aiming device. I just don’t think it would optically...
Looking pretty good. Just knowing what everything weighs helps. Are grizzly bears a concern in the area that you are going? 12oz bear spray could be some weight lost. But, if it gives you piece of mind then leave it in! Did I miss binos? Or is that intentional? Maybe combine some kits to use...
I have a MKII in .300 win. I put it in an HS Precision stock, and had a smith install a trigger from Dayton Traister. Probably could have gotten the same results with a spring kit, but it is a big improvement from the factory trigger pull.
Yup I have been very pleased with this setup. It’s held up to being knocked around well. The rings and base didn’t add much weight. I’m jealous of your NXS.
