    Hornady ELD-X

I've been shooting them since 2004 with no complaints. Killed a bull this year with one out of a .325 WSM. - - - Updated - - - That's funny because I would have expected them to blow up on the elk I shot this year since they are much bigger and tougher than whitetail. Two through the...

I think the HD is just the glass - all other internals are the same. So in other words, dial with confidence.

The Fighting Battle On Head Lamps

I use Black Diamond too. I have both the Spot and the Storm, along with an old model I bought about 15 years ago (still going strong, but can't compete with the lumens of newer models).

    Literally "Cutting" Pack Weight

Fair enough, although I don’t agree that Stone Glacier is not “a rugged pack.”

    Literally "Cutting" Pack Weight

Never said everything I own is 100% perfect out of the box, but when I have a goal in mind I always start at the start. Much easier that way. Similarly, I wouldn’t try to build a long range rifle by starting out with a 1903 Springfield action. Some things just go easier when you build from the...

    Hornady ELD-X

Sounds like these bullets are all over the place in terms of performance. I'll stick to my Accubonds, thank you.

    Literally "Cutting" Pack Weight

Easiest way to cut weight on a Kifaru pack is to buy a Stone Glacier. Seriously though, if I was concerned about weight to the point that I was trimming fabric, I'd be looking at a whole different system instead of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Sitka Kelvin Active vs Kuiu Kenai

    Kenai is heavier and warmer

Kuiu Kenai Ultra hooded vs Sitka Kelvin Lite hoody

The insulation types are different. Sitka uses “traditional” synthetic insulation while the Kenai uses insulation that is better for active wear. In addition to the compressibility that toadmeister mentioned, wind comes through the Kenai more. Which is better depends on your use. I like the...

    Budget pack, ILBE VS Eberlestock

For the retail price of a J34, you could find a used/sale price Mystery Ranch Pintler/Metcalf and have a MUCH better pack.

    Grayboe or HS Precision?

Good stock for shooting nursing mothers, no doubt.

Arc’teryx Konseal Hoody/ Other fleece options

Never used one, but it looks similar to the R1. Really, it would be hard to go wrong with an Arcteryx fleece that is made from Polartec fabrics, IMO.

Deer was previously shot, is meat still good?

If it passes the sniff test, go for it. Maybe fry some up before mixing it in with the rest of your other meat though, just to be safe.

Kuiu SD Pro- do you use the pit zips, ever?

No, I've never used them. Completely pointless. Pit zips on a down jacket are what you get when you let the "public" vote on clothing designs. Half of them have no idea what features should go where, but if it sounds cool...

    What are my options?

That's funny because I now own 4 84Ms, 4 8400 WSMs, and one 84L. All but one were made in the last 4 years. I've only had issues with one of them, and it was a very early model .308. All are shooting MOA, a couple of them shoot 1/2 MOA, including a 280 AI Subalpine. I'd say 8 out of 9 is...

Looking to replace my backcountry stove

I'm not up on the politics of the stove world. Just curious as to what statements/actions have led people to believe JetBoil does not support hunting but MSR does?
