Climactic conditions in Oregon have indeed been brutal no matter what you call it. Severe and late winter in 2016/17. Followed by several years of extreme drought. Mega fires. Decreased forage quality during nursing. Etc…. However, the issues are multifactorial. Acknowledging the climate...
No rimfire also it’s not much weight but yes measurable. 90% or it’s shooting has been 6.5 creedmoor and 6.5 PRC. Some 300 blackout and of those about half subsonic.
Im not defensive. I’m just saying that it shoots well, suppresses sound as well or better than a competitors, and by those metrics it has not been a bad suppressor. 1/2 moa and sound suppression is objectively better than a highly regarded competitor. So in my case I just can’t knock it...
My friends nomad has gained some weight over the years and his options to remedy this are limited. It shoots no tighter or more consistent or repeatable than my user serviceable can. So reasons why or not I can’t say it’s a worse design. I haven’t had to make a warranty claim yet and so I...
Looking up different information regarding my suppressor and came across this. I’ve owned my banish 30 for over three years now. I run it mostly in 7 inch format. As for the suppression all I know is it’s as or more effective than my friends dead air nomad even in 7 inch format. We shot them...
Being from Oregon I can say there are some differences. I can say they are not identical. Without a 209 primer you can't use blackhorn 209, ignition is less reliable as well, they look different and are indeed are a bit different. How much is up for debate but they are not identical.
That's a difficult timeline to judge. The winter of 2016 was brutal. Regardless, if success rates are the same then nothing to complain about. What is interesting about the attached graph is how much closer together the muzzleloader and rifle success rates become after adding scopes...
In the past month I've doubled the investment in my tikka of 5 years. A gun I've never missed with... This stock is the latest "investment". No real questions on the stock just questioning my sanity. Good day.
So, how’d you do? What method did you use and did you get the tag you wanted? Third choice?
I was online had a normal tab and an incognito tab open. My dad told me to take the first priority and if it worked out to have the same unit to buy his. One was 32000ish and one was 2500ish. Still...
I see that but I know less than a handful of shooters who can actually hit something with open sights past 150 yards. It’s an entirely different skill set. Slap buckhorn sights on a 300 win mag and the percentage of guys capable of killing a deer at 500 yards drops dramatically to the point...
Glad to see so many people discussing this. I see both sides but I also don’t think doing this will drop total hunter numbers. Some folks who found a hack with long range dial scope muzzleloaders will just head back over to rifle. Folks muzzleloader hunting with scopes don’t strike me as the...
Fitting this happened in Utah. Growing up hunting there I’ve been apart of this playing out 4 different times. Maybe not all this bad though.
Personally, if a deer is wounded mortally but not well I think finishing it is fine. I’d want someone to do the same for me. However, taking...
Twice with a bow. First time was on a monster whitetail in Idaho. Just rushed it as it was a rushed situation. The buck was already dead in my mind. Making calls to friends, my dad, etc…. Was in shock when it ran off untouched.
First mule deer buck I shot at with a bow was in a burn...
Following up with what ultimately worked for me. 110 grains of 777 with a 297 grain Thor bullet. Taken a black tail buck and pronghorn buck with that setup.
Utah, is considering some major changes. I support these changes but I could see someone who invested loads of money into a long range scoped muzzleloader being against these changes. To me it just means the potential for more opportunity...
With hammers we’ve noticed BC differences from rifle to rifle. Doesn’t make sense but it’s been the experience. Same loads all chrono’d etc…. Ultimately I just go off my own drop data when it comes to hammers and work up a BC that works for that. Has worked well taking game out to 600 yards...
Oregon public land Muzzleloader. This rutted up buck chased a doe 150 yards in front of me out to about 800 then looped back around and gave me a 60-80 yard shot. Third time I was on him in a 24 hour period. Super fun hunt. My best pronghorn to date,
