One Gun with different bullets, one gun w/ one bullet for Elk / Deer / Black bears? Or two different guns (cartridges)?

I'm not knocking our progress and ability to have exactly what we want. Or the progress of doing more with less. I'm enjoying it. But there is something to be said about our grandfathers who bought a .30-06, or .270, or 280 etc and used that one rifle for everything they came across. And never...

    Yes another Arken post

I'm wanting to get a FFP scope to dabble in PRS. I got a rifle for free so I'd like the scope to not cost too much and see how I like PRS. Clearly I'm looking at Arken, but which one? What else should I be looking at? Sent from my SM-S506DL using Tapatalk

Depending on the type of hunting some more weight isn't a bad thing. Sent from my SM-S506DL using Tapatalk

    Custom Build

Personally if it's in good shape, I'd leave it alone. I see no reason to do anything to my 270. That's one to keep original IMO. But maybe that's just me. Sent from my SM-S506DL using Tapatalk

    Does the optic mount help?

I have no idea if this is a thing. But is there any accuracy or more likely a consistency advantage to a one piece scope mount on open top receivers? I look at something like a 110 or 700 action compared to a Tikka action and I wonder if there is any flex in the open design that a one piece...

    New Ruger American Gen II

It seems like quite a few people have forgotten that a whole lot of hunters buy a rifle and a scope and hunt just like that. Til they die. Sent from my SM-S506DL using Tapatalk

    New Ruger American Gen II

Looks to me that its a strong competitor to the 110 Tactical and a full 2lbs lighter, street price significantly lower. Assuming they are shooters, I say well played Ruger.

    New Ruger American Gen II

I love my Tikka. No argument here that it's a better platform to build. But functionally speaking, the Tikka stock is just good enough and certainly only marginally better than the RA Gen I at best. So to get the same features in the TIkka you are talking a significant jump in price. I'm...

    New Ruger American Gen II

Step up to tikka that has no better stock than the Gen I RA so you then probably feel like you need to spend more on the Tikka immediately?

One Gun with different bullets, one gun w/ one bullet for Elk / Deer / Black bears? Or two different guns (cartridges)?

I cant decide. I can definitely see myself doing any of the 3 options. The thing I always have to remind myself every time I feel im being sucked into the cartridge vs cartridge rabbit hole.........DEAD is DEAD.

    Ruger American Gen II

Anyone held one yet? Looks like they have been watching the market and added what they needed to stay relevant and move out of entry level.

    Helluva hand me down

Now THOSE are reasons to keep them. In my case, my FIL is impulsive and buys stuff without thinking about it, with no plan, and no real intent to use it. There is almost no sentimental value here. Sent from my SM-S506DL using Tapatalk

    Helluva hand me down

I, like you, grew up in a wrong-handed world. There are options now, I'm taking advantage of them. You choose not to, neither of us is wrong.

    Helluva hand me down

I am going to keep it, it should be fine for the boy in a few years. And my FIL and my son will both enjoy that connection.

    Helluva hand me down

I understand that many people feel that way. It was given in full knowledge(not understanding) of 2 things: 1) I am looking to build a somewhat specific gun 2) the gun he gave me was not that gun. I also don't put explicit or implicit stipulations on what somebody does with something I give...

3-9x54, looks pretty cheap. Came on a Patriot I was gifted. Is it as cheap as I think it is? Sent from my SM-S506DL using Tapatalk
