What’s the coolest thing you found in the back country
Not really back country, but walking some foothills where I like to hunt mule deer I saw the flash of a shed. It was just a little fork but when I picked it up there was an old knife on the ground underneath it with the leather washer handle rotted away. Still have it in the shop somewhere...- TSnave

Ugh. Competition season is over; brass prep season has begun. Began processing a couple of thousand 223 brass so they'll be ready come spring. -

How many hunting rifles do you have?
More than I can use, even if I used a different one for each tag I have. Maybe someday I'll sell some, but Dad always told me, "Never sell a rifle. You'll just end up buying it again." Not always true but for me it usually has been. -

Lever Action Hunters

New "to me" rifle
Thought I'd do a quick update on this. The rifle turned out to be a June, 1948 production with a 24" barrel. As received, it was filthy. I suspect after the stock broke, it sat in a closet for a very long time. I was worried when I looked down the bore but it cleaned up nicely. The seller... -

How set are you on Lincoln County? Lots of other areas to look at that may (MAY!) come reasonably close to fitting your requirements. The US200 corridor from Noxon to Plains, or down around Drummond/Philipsburg, maybe. If you as a vet are looking for VA access, get closer to Helena. Want...- TSnave

New "to me" rifle
Got the Acraglas on hand, along with some threaded rod. Unfortunately, it's missing a chunk out of the far side that I'll have to do something with that's hopefully not too ugly. -

Trying to find a 600 yard load for my M1A, put together ladders for 155 and 175 SMK's. Now have to wait for the weather to be decent enough for a range trip! -
CCI 250 Primers vs Fed 215 Primers
When we could get primers, I shot nothing but CCI. Never had any issues with quality. These days, I use whatever I can get my hands on but definitely do a minor load workup to check for pressure issues. -
non factory coyote calibers
6mm AR Turbo 40 Improved, or 6mm Fat Rat. Predates the ARC, but it's basically an Ackley ARC. I use mine for 1000 yard competition; 105's at 2800, but I'm sure it'd rock lighter bullets as well. Total custom, you'd have to get a reamer cut. -
Long action build in 6mm??
Short cartridges work just fine in long actions. I spent about a dozen years fooling around with M24 sniper rifles, which were 308 chambered long actions. Never had a problem.
