CMP is probably the best option. You just need to be a member of an affiliated club or organization. Garand Collectors Association is probably easiest if your local range isn't. CMP has a database. Then just decide what you want, fill out the paperwork and send it in.
Isn't it the law that you must own a model 94 or 336? Mine is a 94 carbine with a Williams peep sight. A Savage 99 in 358 is off getting a new stock fitted, and my Marlin 444S is in the safe ready to go. Also have a Browning BL22 and an Ithaca lever in 22WMR.
As I grow older (I'm 57), I've been laughing about my circles getting smaller. How far from home am I willing to go? How far from the truck am I willing to go? I am fortunate in that I can hunt mule deer within a few hundred yards of my house and have lots of access to whitetail and elk...
Lots of good suggestions here. To clarify some stuff - since 257 brass is evidently made of unobtanium, I sized down some 7x57 brass. It might have "bounced back" and be giving me a little less neck tension than I want. The case mouth is in the middle of the groove at mag length and the...
1903 production Springfield 1898 30-40 Krag carbine handed down from Grandpa Sid but I've no idea how he acquired it. I've shot it a bit but never hunted with it.
Let me just start by saying I've had good luck with Barnes TSX. So when I got my 257 I ordered up a couple of boxes of 100 grain bullets but with one thing and another I haven't gotten around to loading up some test ammo. Finally had the time and inclination the other day. Figured out that...
I had a Brittany and he was a great dog both to hunt over and as a house dog. His only problem was after a long drive in the truck I learned to let him out to run off some steam in a place I wasn't going to hunt so he'd be ready to hunt when I was. I do remember him running down a wounded...
When I was young and hunting in SW Montana we only had one rifle, an M700 in 7mmRM with a 2-7 Redfield, so that's what I used. It worked but the long barrel got annoying in thick brush so I picked up a Savage 99 in 358 Win and a Marlin 444 that had been cut back to 18", both topped with low...
Finally got tired of running into hanging bows when I was eyes down and put them in cases. Now I have to figure out where to put the cases...
Also continued cleaning primer pockets, thank goodness for tools that fit a cordless driver!
Noticed that my expander button was tweaked in my 223 sizer so had to fiddle around and find a replacement. Fortunately had some Redding 22 BR dies that aren't being used and whaddya know, the whole assembly screwed into the RCBS die body. So I'm counting that as a win. Then I got back to...
