    MDWi Jacket/Hoody vs Ambient Jacket/Hoody

The extra insulation on the ambient jacket vs hoody is about 7-10 degrees of difference. I am comfortable in a base with hoody down to about 55 and light wind (i feel the face fabric is pretty wind resistant up to 10-12mph) and very light activity, vigorous activity and you can easily...

Kuiu VS Sitka for Nothern/Midwest Whitetails

The stratus line from sitka covers a lot of ground for me, but just saw the encounter line from kuiu and that may be a good option for early season before it is too cold for the stratus. I dont know as i have not had hands on that line, only the proximity line from kuiu. Again, treestand...

Kuiu VS Sitka for Nothern/Midwest Whitetails

Are you talking archery or rifle hunting? Let me break this down for you in simple terms….sitka white tail is their bread and butter. Kuiu western gear is their bread and butter. I have expereicne with sitka stratus and fanatic lines and have handled the proximity line but no direct...

Does sitka core LW get stinky?

I think that is the ultimate test right? Because what happens to me and my body and stink level will not neccessarily be the same for you. So give it a whirl and see what happens. And you get some training in at the same time

Does sitka core LW get stinky?

Only way to know for you is wear it while working out or training for several days in a row without washing and see what someone else says. My gut tells me it will take a few days before getting stinky. The other option is getting into the new core-merino and that should have similar...

Sitka Intercept Pant and Hoody Review, By Josh Boyd

If you are anywhere near a cabelas or bass pro or other major sportsgear dealer like scheels, field and stream, etc, they will have some sitka gear you can try on….thats prob the best way. Another way is order try on and exchange or keep. I find sitka clothes to fit pretty dang close to...

    SITKA - Subalpine Whitetail

Don’t confuse standing out to a human eye and standing out to a deer eye. Deer are not seeing the difference between subalpine and EV2. They see the shapes and patterns and any UV brighteners, but not the actual colors. If you have something in EV2, there is no reason to go buy it in...

    Sitka Merino 330

Does anyone have the kuiu pro-merino 200 to compare to the 220 or 330? Just curious how these pieces compare to that (obviously minus the hood on the pro-merino).

    Sitka Ambient active insulation

The fanatic is much more susceptible to wind compared to the ambient. I found the wind resistance on the ambient hoody and jacket (very similar wind resistance) to be around 10-12mph and it blocks it pretty well. But the fanatic you get superior noise level. Nothing is perfect…but the...

Camo or solid color for rain gear?

If you are stalking in rain gear, and feel like cano is the answer to help your stalk, you need to get better at hunting. Sound, wind, and movement are most important during a stalk, and none of that matter whether wearing camo or solid. A camo print moving is seen just as easily as a solid.

    Sitka Gear Dallas Store

^^ that could be something to it…its been a while since i have been in store but the stock at the ft worth cabelas always seemed pretty good. Selection on the other hand was less than good. Select pieces in good stock is not a great marketing tool.

Camo or solid color for rain gear?

Solid, that way you can wear non-hunting times. But when its raining, do you really need camo?

    Sitka Gear Dallas Store

Not interested in first lite, bring on a stone glacier store…. Though scheels sells stone glacier already so they prob wont. Bps and cabelas all sell sitka too…at least four in the metromess. So it makes me wonder why they are opening a brick and mortar as well….

    Need Some Sleep System Guidance

Upgrade the pad, and take a bag liner. Might not need the liner but if you do you will be glad you have it. Light enough to carry if you don’t need it, but if it is super warm you could sleep in it and not the bag itself.

Kuiu opens brick and mortar store in….

Quite possible this is based on sales during conventions/shows as well. I know the Kuiu booth was a hornets nest when i was looking at the proximity line during the DSC convention.

Does anyone NOT wear merino underwear?

I have one or two pair of bamboo but after a couple of years they have gotten to where they are very saggy after just a day. I need tight fitting pants to keep them up, not an issue i have with any other material unless they are decades old and obviously holy underwear.

Does anyone NOT wear merino underwear?

Thats called an STD and not a UTI…. Oh man, i am teasing. I cant say i have ever heard of someone getting a UTI from wearing the wrong undies, but now i have. Thats not bueno. I sweat a ton and stink pretty good in synthetics after a day. So for my own sanity, i prefer merino for my...

    Sitka Finally did it!

I feel like these types of expenditures are a lot like the radio, or the news….if you don’t like it then don’t participate. Yes its expensive. Yes it isn’t “necessary” It is an optional thing that can make things better for some, at a cost. There is no reason to get all keyboard warrior...
