I normally take a little dental pick and chase the threads. You basically have to scrape it off. Then give them a bath in acetone or brake cleaner and wipe them down with clean paper towels. Sometimes I’ll do it twice if it looks like I didn’t get everything on the first go. I’ve yet to find a...
I have this scope with illumination and no parallax adjustment. MOAR reticle. Have shot out to 700 yards and lack of parallax adjustment has not been an issue for me. Conversely, I have used the illumination shooting animals at last light and it’s a nice to have. The MOAR reticle works but not...
It’s very easy to do. The hardest/most nerve racking part is getting the stock setup on your press so it’s centered and the hole is not drilled at an angle. I did it on a Sauer 100 in front of the mag well. Drill the hole, degrease inlet side of stock where you will be working. I took a...
I’ve only done it once and price was zero dollars. Knocked on 4 doors…3 said yes, one was a very polite no. This was in a low point, not very desirable unit. Ended up killing a buck off of one of the places. I believe a lot of it is how you present yourself. Give absolute assurance that...
I have used cci and rem 9 1/2 LR primers. I always work back up when switching primers, but in my experience they work the same, and I end up with the same charge weights. Have heard that win primers are a little hotter than most.
Not sure where you are located but being a fireman is a solid option. I did it at 32 and my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. It’s absolutely not for everyone….but if you like it, then you’ll love it. You won’t get rich, but it offers a very stable income, and time off is not an...
To the guys saying that outfitters benefit from this…can you explain how? Legitimate question…not trying to be a smartass. Most of the outfitters worth their salt stay pretty booked. I can see that repeat clients can hunt with an outfitter more or less often based on this new system, but I...
I’d sell the 10x, add that to your budget, then try to swap it out with an swfa 6x or 3-9. I say “try” because you can’t buy them unless you find one used. They are out there though. The 3-10 shv is nice as well, but quite a bit more money. A fixed 10x just isn’t a great multi purpose hunting...
Everything I’ve heard about pigs down that way leads me to suggest you’d be better off looking elsewhere. Not to say there aren’t any. But pigs on public in Ca is a hard hunt, even when they are present in large numbers.
I’d just bring some foil with you. Wrap them in that and set it in some coals for a few hours to cook the meat and help break it down without drying it out. Then smoke them for a short time over the fire.
Too many variables at once to pin anything down as the culprit. The fact that the group before it was dropped wasn’t very good indicates it may just not like that load. I’d leave the rifle alone for now and try another powder.
I always warm them up by putting them directly onto a gas burner on my stove. Flip them over and do both sides. Keep sn eye on them they go fast. Put those into tin foil with a cloth towel over it to keep warm. No issues with them falling apart.
