A couple things I suspected.
So I went back to do what I first did prior to changing the seating stem. Before, I used a spiral flame torch, then change to pencil flame torch when I also changed the seating stem. I think using the pencil flame, I wasn’t heating low enough on the brass. Whereas...
So I just did these again. These were previously annealed, resized/deburred/chamfered, wet tumbled, and ready to load. These were not shot yet after the initial prep.
I decided to anneal these again, about 10 seconds using a spiral flame bernzomatic torch, not a pencil flame torch. Just enough...
So I reset the seating die, took it apart. Set the lnl bushing in the press first, arm is at highest position with a case in it. Started screwing die (without seating stem and adjustment screw) until it makes contact with the case (without the projectile). Backed die out a full turn to not...
loading barnes 175gr LRX, loaded round had neck diameter measured .336, so I initially ordered the .333 bushing and was able to get great groups (0.371" 3-shot group at 100yrds, Tikka t3x superlite) but decided to change the seating stem since it was leaving a ring on the projectile, that's when...
that's what I was thinking also, so I'm ordering a size up. I'm shooting Barnes 175gr LRX, Norma brass loaded round neck diameter with the LRX is .336, I didn't think .003 neck tension would that much so I initially ordered the .333 bushing. as I recall my measurement of the LRX diameter is like...
I'll have to test that, I'm loading on a hornady classic press using lnl bushings. both seating stems created the same results but only after I decided to try the VLD stem from my buddy. the die is not touching the Shellholder, its probably about 1/2" higher from the bottom of the lnl bushing...
Brass was chamfered and de-burred, then wet tumbled before loading. I pulled the projectiles. The one on the left, I took a plier to see how soft/hard it was.
What’s going on? 300wsm Norma brass, annealed using torch and driver with socket. Full length sized with Redding type s .333 bushing. Shoulder bump .002, Wet tumbled.
Issue started when I tried to use a hornady VLD seating stem in a hornady custom seating die. I did notice i had to use more...
if you can wait, I may have one soon. bought my t3x 300wsm in December, shot less than 75rds, shot norma bondstrike for the brass to use for load development. its a stainless fluted superlite 24". its an awesome round but I think its just too much for me to handle without a brake. and it is...
Update. So I emailed Barnes and the rep responded they will mail me a new box once I provide the lot number. Not sure if they will send me one of each, but being that I live in California, they said it has to go to my FFL. Still awaiting shipping confirmation. Will update if and when I do get...
SMH, Barnes quality going down? Or should I still send it. The 175gr LRX looks like it had the tip shaved off, it was like that in the box. I also noticed the tips weren’t straight also, most appeared canted. The 129gr LRX, both have the same oal/ogive measurement, brass is same length. Will it...
just wondering if anyone has used this scale for reloading? I'm loading for hunting rifle so it doesn't have to be precise, just something better than my hornady lnl auto charge. since I'm not loading a bunch at a time, I plan on using the hornady lnl powder measure to drop my charges then...
I was briefly researching the cases of each cartridge and looks like the 6.5prc has the most similar case size. Case rim and diameter. I will have to check with my buddies 7rm to see if my 300wsm case fits.
