    Bikers beware...

Very surprised neither had spray, a gun or even a phone! Unfortunate that the riding partner bailed instead of trying to help. Not being there though makes it hard to pass judgement on their actions though.

Idaho or Montana For Nonresident Black Bear Hunters

Wasn't trying to offend or insult. Mostly trying to encourage other non residents like me that a successful hunt is possible if you work at it. My uninformed (no MT experience) vote is Idaho.

    Idaho Unit 12 Update

Agree, spent some time there a few weeks ago, bait and hounds everywhere. We bailed and found better areas using online maps. Almost no pressure where we ended up going.

Idaho or Montana For Nonresident Black Bear Hunters

I have spot and stalk spring bear hunted Idaho 2019 and 2021, once was in reduced tag area. 2 days actual hunting the first trip one day this year. Add a few more days for scouting each time. Saw and killed a bear both times (hunting partner shot the bear this year but i located it and had a...

I actually haven't used it yet. It is considerably larger than the current scope i have on that gun so I decided to stick with what I had. I am thinking of getting a 7mm mag and using that scope or maybe putting it on my AR for coyote hunting

    2021 Bear Success Thread

I am very happy some of you have never been in that situation. Keep hunting, eventually you will be. I won't bust your chops about it when you are though because i know how much it sucks. It was a very steep and dangerous spot but we still made an attempt from below which was not possible and...

    2021 Bear Success Thread

Yeah, sorry if I didn't mention my truck broke down and we were not able to get back in there for a second recovery attempt. I do understand many of you have never shot anything and failed to recover it. I also apologize if I failed to mention we did attempt to recover but were unable to get...

    2021 Bear Success Thread

Buddy and I only hunted one day in Idaho but he shot a cinnamon phase black bear. It was a small one, somewhere around 150 lbs was my guess. We weren't able to retreive it due to hunt ending truck issues the next morning when we were going back in to get it so no pics. Was a lot of fun. I saw...

    Idaho black bear locations

update on Selway: We stayed there one night and scouted for a day. A few of the roads in that area are not open until June 1st. LOTS of rafters/canoers in the area. We saw several bear camps in the area, as well as many local trucks parked along the roads and a couple guys with backpacks headed...

    Idaho black bear locations

I hunted in your area two years ago. Talked to a couple IDFG officers, locals including a forester, a biologist at mcall field office and the rangers at mccall and cascade usfs service stations. They all said lots of bears. IDFG officers both said explore the area around south branch salmon...

    Lowa Renegade GTX first impressions

Bought a pair of renegade gtx mid a couple weeks ago. Have 20+ miles on them mostly with a 35-40lb Pack for training. Terrain is Arizona rock. The do need insoles, my feet ache after a long day. My one gripe is they seem to run narrow. I wear a 11.5 regular, in the Iowa I had to go to 12 wide...

    Eat my Boxershorts

smartwool 150s long style (mid thigh) boxer briefs. I have tried many kinds of synthetics and in most conditions they are not for me, I guess I run too hot or sweat too much. I hate having swamp ass, just isn't comfortable for me. Just ordered 3 more pairs of smartwool long boxer briefs. They...

    Overlanding Rig for Hunting?

Nice truck you picked up, it should do you well. I had a 2015 Tacoma TRD 4.0 access cab 6' bed, was a really nice and reliable truck. I am aware it was the previous generation to what you picked up. I no longer have it, just didn't work for me. I picked up a duramax crew cab long bed. When it is...

Thanks for the offer, backcountry, but I picked up a credo hx, not sure now if it will go on my 7-08 or not. Pretty darn large for my compact little a bolt micro medallion. I may have to start looking for a 7 mag to put my new scope on :)

No permits required to film in national parks judge rules

In some cases, yes, they need a permit before taking any pics. BLM law is the same as the NFS laws. When do I need a film permit? | Bureau of Land Management (blm.gov) Your statements kind of hit the nail on the head. How do they determine where to draw the line. This is really just one of the...

I ordered a Credo HX 2.5-15x42 MOA reticle. I know Trijicon has great glass, I've looked through many of their optics over the years. Like was mentioned about the Zeiss V4 line, I can't seem to find anything but positive stuff about Trijicon being durable/repeatable as well. It was a bit cheaper...

never read much about trijicon hunting scopes and repeatability. I have a good friend that has 20+ years working there so he could probably educate me on his optics reliability. Usually they tout the acog line. I know he said they released a bunch of new stuff a couple years ago.

mid range (600yd) scope insight and experience

Does anyone have any suggestions on reticle style or features? Say a ballistic ranging like ZBR2 vs standard MOA hash reticle like the ZMOA2? Is illumination necessary? I know when I used to hunt with a sight on my bow the lit pins didn't help me at all, hunting hours were over before it was...

mid range (600yd) scope insight and experience

@BRTreedogs - I committed a generalization error. I have read that the Zeiss scopes in general (not V series explicitly) are not considered as reliable/repeatable as offerings from Nightforce or SWFA (and some high end brands that cost more than I want to spend) so I automatically and ignorantly...
