Most of my rifle are magazine fed so I typically get mag-length and back off .03. I shoot the 77gr SMK out of my AR using 8208XBR and I found success at 23.8grs
Thanks for all of the responses!
I've seen a few folks mention "inside of 300 yds" and I noticed that Sierra's website also mentioned inside of 300 yards.
I would imagine that this should be more of a velocity marker than a yardage marker. Is 1200fps to slow for this bullet? I didn't see...
They did have a ballistic tip in 180gr, still have a few loaded up. But switched to the barns TSX as they were more readily available. 66grs of H4350 was my load for that one. Don't recall my velocity with this load, but I believe was pushing close to 3000fps.
I have pretty solid tripod, but also noticed that Maven has added a bundle with the tracer tripod...so I may go with that bundle so I don't need to take my photography tripod into the field anymore. And I believe I can shoot off of the tracer.
Been a while since I've found bullets for the 8mm but I also just found a couple of boxes of 200gr accubonds so I'm going to start testing them...
I'm shooting a Browning X-Bolt.
Had decent luck with Barns TSX bullets and H4350 in the past.
Let me know if you find a load with the Accubonds.
Just a general question:
Has anyone used the Sierra Game King bullets? And if so what are your thoughts on this bullet?
I'm load some of these up and finding good accuracy, but its not a bullet I hear about alot compared to others. Don't get me wrong, I love the Match Kings and this is still...
With the S.1A only being another $150, and for a guy who can only afford 1 spotter, would you go with the S.1A? And what's the difference between the S 1A and the S1.2A???
Also Matt, for a guy who is only going to buy 1 spotter, looking at a $2000 budget, what spotter would you go for at this...
I've only taken mine out to the range 3 or 4 times. The only issue I've had is noticing that the recharge rate (time between shots) was a tad shorter than my Caldwell Chronograph. So it missed a couple of shots when I was testing some AR loads. But I keep about 5 seconds between shots I haven't...
It depends on what your doing in the field. Are you just gutting in the field and then skinning at the shop? Are you quartering and de-boning in the field? Are you just doing a deer? Or do you have an elk down?
I have the Steep Country and this is one of my go-to knives. A "traditional"...
I carry two knives.
I have this replaceable blade tyto which I really use for about 90% of my field dressing. The only think I don't use it for is the cut at the base of the neck to pop the head off. I can typically do a full elk with a single bade if I'm paying attention to what I'm doing. I...
Thats awesome!!
My little guy has been out with me since he was in a stroller as well! Lol. There is a playground about a block as well, so when we're done shooting I let him run around the playground a bit them he sleep on the way home.
Congrats on getting your goat. Step 1 would be to pull that hide off pretty quick after you fill your tag.
Their hides are thick and built to keep them warm. If you can get that off and the meat cooling quickly it'll help a ton in the flavor of the meat.
I actually have a cooler with ice in my...
