I have a platform (predator) and would recommend one. Other people use ROS (ring of steps), or a platform step added to their last stick. I doubt many people stand only on a stop stick.
One other thing I'd consider before getting into the saddle game is the area you hunt. I love my saddle and...
Seems like there's a new treesaddle company every week these days. I tried my friends Tethrd mantis and kept feeling like I'd slip out of the bottom. I ended up with a Cruzr Archon which is a two piece saddle and like that I can put the bottom section lower and kind of turn it into a chair. I...
I also have the go go go mentality, but can see myself transitioning into the more fun group as I get more vacation time / retirement. I'd also be shocked if I don't end up shooting a stick someday, these days I'm looking to maximize my effectiveness in the woods to keep the freezer full.
I've driven one and they are pretty sweet. To me the major differences from a base truck are increased ground clearance, electric locking axles, and improved offroad suspension. For my needs the 2" lift would be nice getting into hunting and fishing spots, the lockers wouldn't see much as they...
I agree with the "ask the local govt" advice given above. Or you could be like a dude I ran into in WY a few years ago that just printed his map and bolded around the public and conveniently covered the small section of private. "all looks public on my map"...
Not enough. I get 3.5 weeks, can and do buy a week (cost is a weeks pay), then we get 5 sick days and 5 personal days that I'm just hearing about now 10 years in.
Working on retiring early and getting to the same 365 days bohntr has.
This ^^^.
I don't need another rifle (hopefully my wife doesn't read this) to go hunting. If I can't find a way to get EXCATLY what I want sooner I will wait and will not compromise for a shorter turn around time. If it was preventing me from hunting my willingness to wait would be drastically...
I have the same case and use 4 combination locks with my phone number written on the case. That way I can be contacted if something comes up where they need to inspect again. The TSA rule is that the case needs to be "secured" and not allow access to the firearm so two locks would likely be...
I ended up returning the C10 and amazon plates and tried the outdoorsman's arca attachment for their bino adapter. It's not 100% perfect but workable with a 70A plate. The outdoorsmans arca is a bit bigger than the 70A but can be used on the same set screw setting.
Hard to argue that we are losing advocates as these rule changes continue to favor residents and outfitters. As opportunities continue to erode for users so will their advocacy.
An example:
If there were talks of changing WY wilderness to national forest I'd be all for it. If that same...
I worked at a lawnmower shop in college. We sold toro, scag, and Ferris. I’d avoid kohler motors and be wary of anything liquid cooled. The kohlers never redesigned their block after going from side valve to overhead and that resulted in a lot of blown head gaskets (may have been fixed in 10...
Different strikers will give you different pitches or waterproofness. A slate call with a wood striker seems to give me the "best" sounding calls but any moisture makes it useless. For wet days I carry an aluminum call with a carbon striker that works when wet and is higher pitched which seems...
Not sure about 1.75oz but they had 3" #4, 5, and 6 at sportsman's warehouse in MI. I'm looking for the 3.5" #5s and have struck out thus far. I've still got a box from last year, so barring some really poor shooting I should be ok for this year.
How'd you end up doing? I'll be leaving the mitten and headed to Florida end of March and have been looking into my fishing options. Wife, 12mo old, and I will be staying in Naples, but will probably spend a day in Sarasota visiting my uncle who just moved there.
I'm thinking some pier fishing...
You guys sound like a bunch of landowners with public land access that they have landlocked or corner locked. "This resource is paid for by and intended for the use of everyone, but I should be the only one allowed to use this part of it".
I haven't watched the video, but unless he is...
Big money in trail cameras... Bet it won't be the last big name in hunting taking that position.
Personally, I think cell cameras need to be given a hard look. Maybe only updates once a day after shooting light and well before first light or just outright banned. Getting an instant notification...
