I wasn't aware that 30-06 was either 6.5 creedmoor or 300 win mag. [emoji848]
The man asked about those two, period.

Not going to lie, I'd LOVE a 6.5 magnum, like the 6.5-300 or 6.5 Allen magnum. But currently, it would just be a toy, with no practical application for me.

In my opinion, the creedmoor would be my choice. Nothing wrong with the win mag. But I feel like the creedmoor will be more versatile, cheaper to shoot, and easier for less experienced people to shoot (wives and younger shooters) you can still take larger game with it, given optional shot...
It doesn't. Just means the action isn't as common, which means they're more of a specialty build. Not totally specialty, but 308 actions are everywhere and dime a dozen.

The 6.5 prc is basically the 383 stroker to the creedmoor. So, sure, it's got faster velocities and can use heavier bullets. The disadvantage I'll give it, whole 6 not a true disadvantage, is the prc is a short action with a magnum bolt face, while the creedmoor uses the same bolt as 308...
Definitely. Anyone in any shooting discipline could glean something from a world class benchrest shooter. Just have to keep in mind his loading "context"

David tubby certainly is a massive resource. He certainly won't steer you wrong. One thing to keep in mind is, he a benchrest shooter. Some of the things those guys do just isn't practicable for hunting, or even other forms of competition. Stuff like weight sorting brass, bullets, and even...
I, too, have had the "... Oh s***... I've got to pull this WHOLE batch..." Which sometimes has been 100+ rounds...

With your calipers, measure the diameter of the inside of the neck, before and after. Also, measure the diameter of the bullets. That will show you where the mismatch in size is. The best way to get the get that inner dimension is to measure the outside diameter of the neck, and measure the...
Really, all you'll need is a different die set. Data will be a smidge different.
Reloading is the theory of relativity embodied. What works for one guy/gal, might not work for you and vice versa. What works for a group of your friends, might not work for you.
I'm not sure if you're expecting...
I'd call that a relatively safe max. Like you said, primers aren't flat, yet. The one thing to watch for is if warmer weather pushes the load outside a node, which is why I don't like to run on the edge of a node, I try to keep it in the middle. It sounds like you might be on the bottom end...
While I don't load 280, that's a lot of powder to move a 150 grain bullet at that speed. When I had a 6.5 I was getting 140's almost that fast with 20 grains less powder. But I had 6 more inches of barrel. But totally different situation. Peanuts to watermelon comparison
So really all I got...
My thinking is it's a lot easier to make a mandrel straight than it is to make the die body and the threads perfectly concentric and colinear with the press ram. Now... How much effect does that runout have and where you hit a point of diminishing returns... I think that's what gets me. I can't...
In my mind, mandrels have a few things going for them, or specific use cases. When turning necks, they get rid/help get rid of the "donut" that forms. I also believe they help get more consistent neck tension, bit I think that's more to do with turning. People that use mandrels are usually...
I have the v2 of the auto trickler/auto throw from the auto trickler guys, today I upgraded to the vet electronics to allow Bluetooth, and the auto throw upgrade kit, that comes with the taller/better cup and the better drop tube that gets rid of the straw. I guess, since I was cheap (can you...
I usually email them and they email me back quickload data it looks like. Which I would be INCREDIBLY surprised if 300 PRC was in the software, so I think the best bet is to either get quickload, or buddy up with someone that has it. I had it, that computer is gone, and the computer I have, I...
