    Hawaii Hunting

Yep found that out at the airport that Mokulele changed their policy just in October to not allow antlers any more, checked or carry-on. So I left them with someone who is going to drop them off at Kamaka for me today or tomorrow to ship them to me here in Oahu since Kamaka is closed on Sundays.

    Hawaii Hunting

Man hunting in Lanai is something else. 3 days over too quick. Saw tons of sheep and a good amount of deer, perhaps less than previous years but any mainland whitetail or elk hunter would be over the moon with how many deer I still saw and had opportunities on. Took a decent buck, not a massive...

    DIY Hawaii axis deer hunt

Edited to correct my bad info, asterisk at bottom of this page I posted does say deer can be hunted in all public zones.

    Hawaii Hunting

Heading to Lanai tomorrow. Planning one day in the “private” Pulama lands and two days of the state hunt. Flood watch here and there tomorrow, so hopefully flight out tomorrow goes as scheduled. Thursday will be interesting, no moon tomorrow night but the weather is an X-factor — it’s supposed...

Why do they make spotters above 40x?

Range use makes higher magnification worth it. I just have a 15-45x, but use the 45x at the range frequently.

Seekins Element 6.5 PRC or 7 PRC??

I think about this question differently now than I used to. The reality is, 7 PRC recoil will be in the ballpark of 40% greater than 6.5 PRC recoil. Up to the individual how that affects them, and no offense to anyone intended, but I don't trust anyone on the internet that says they tried their...

    Vacation ideas? Hawaii?

I live in Oahu. Good things about it and bad things just like anywhere, but to us the good outweigh the bad. Just gotta work around the bad stuff and mitigate it how you can. Can’t go wrong with visiting any of the islands IMO, different experiences on each though. Oahu has more hotels and...

I stopped taking protein powder years back, with no noticeable difference. I spend my money on high-quality fish oil and vitamins now.

    SUV Tire Recommendation

Just had Bridgestone TA Advantages put on my wife's Honda Pilot. 100% asphalt usage, but they are "mud and snow rated" if that matters to you. They are not off-road tires. Got em for $900 at Costco for the set, happy with them so far and 65000 mile warranty (plus lifetime rotate/balance through...

    DIY Hawaii axis deer hunt

Same to you man, try not to leave any deer for me, but I hope you do! I’m two weeks behind you, I head out there on the 19th. I have a buddy there now, I’m interested to hear from him at the end of the week with how things look out there.

    DIY Hawaii axis deer hunt

only goat and pig can be hunted on Maui public land hunting areas. No deer. Don’t get me started on that logic considering the state government’s declared a “state of emergency” for 5 or 6 years now for the overwhelming deer numbers. But it’s a problem they don’t want to fix there. Can’t shed...

    Tikka Speeds w/Factory Loads

At least with Tikkas I have read all over the place that it’s because of extra clearance in the throat that reduces pressure.

    Factory ammo velocity thread?

Swear I’ve seen a thread where everyone shares their MVs. Might have just been for Tikkas, can’t remember for sure, but I tried ten different searches and couldn’t find it. Anyone have that thread link handy?

    The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

Broomd I've been watching NYMT for a few months -- as a long-term holder would you see it differently for someone considering opening a position right now? I have gone back and forth on it a few times lately, considering it looks "cheap," historically speaking, but it seems like the the...

    The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

FWIW, I heard an interesting take on paying down debt during high inflationary times. The gist was, if inflation is higher than your interest rate on the debt (mortgage, car loan, whatever), don't pay it down faster than you need to because, in theory, inflation is inflating that debt away...
