I’m interested in the K4 for a future rig. Just did 3x 80+ lb elk loads this weekend with the LT4000. This was my second good size bull with it. I must have learned something with the first one it was better this time. Still sucked but wasn’t nearly as bad. The comments on the EXO do make me...
I’m in between medium and large for tops on most hunting brands. FL I like mediums. Kuiu I’m more large. The axis is a large and it’s real close erroring on the side of a tad big. Works well for me.
5’10” 160lbs fwiw.
Ebrake works and reduces recoils a bit. Cost is length and weight. It is a tad louder but not noticeable. I think it’s value added for a comp or heavy range time. I wouldn’t hunt with it. This is from using it on a comp vs not fwiw.
Edit. E brake is about 1/4” thicker than STi so it doesn’t fit...
I’m not sure I agree with the above statement completely.
A suppressor does tame recoil a bit IMO but agree that intended purpose should be noise reduction….that said they are still “loud” too.
A good can will do both but primarily sound. It won’t do anything near as good as your multiport...
I think your weights are a tad off. He measured in previous post. 8 for scythe vs 9.4 for XC. Actual not advertised.
He also stated XC was noticeably quieter. Newer 3D printed tech and close to 20% more volume (estimated) should be quieter.
Scythe is still BA for a 5.8” can.
I’ll be slightly bummed (or impressed) if the XC isn’t quieter. Volume is still king in suppressor game….except “maybe” 3D printed may have advantage. In which case XC has both. Many will have to decide if 1”
And 1.6oz is worth it. I’d say would have to be 3-5db quieter metered for me to want...
I think these are very different pieces for different purposes. I have both.
The axis is new to me but I’m enjoying it. It can be summarized by more waterproof and pit zips. It’s a true outer layer. The FL is a layering piece for me. I keep it in the pack (or the vest) for cold sits. I couldn’t...
I’m taking my LT4000 with me to MT next week. Have it packed out for 5 days. It’s snug and I’m using a kuiu lid (from a 7000) to hold the food. I’ve packed out 4x 75+ lb trips. It sucks. But I think all bags suck that heavy. It does what it needs to. This is my 2nd longer backcountry trip with...
Agree it’s a good program and I have approved a handful of packages for it in previous positions.
That said it is unfortunately frequently abused by members (and industry).
I retire in a few months and don’t plan to use it. But only because it wouldn’t add any value to my planned career...
Recommend subscribing to GoHunt or a similar service. Lots of good info for research and articles that outline it all. Doesn’t cost too much and can sometimes snag good gear deals too.
It’s fairly “intimidating” just jumping in without some gentle guiding.
The down shift in my experience is pretty common in all suppressors I’ve shot. Just the effect of hanging a 1/2lb+ object off the end of a 2’ stick. It’s repeatable which is most important.
Enjoy it!
I have the scythe and shot it with and without brake. Also have LTi I’ve shot with brake and without. DDSTi with and without ebrake as well. Lastly omega 300 with and without.
In my experience noise goes up a tad and recoil goes down a tad. Not enough to sway me either way really.
I hunt...
Sycthe without the brake is 5.8”. DA site lists XC at 6.74”. Maybe confusion is comparing like configs. That’s about an inch.
Scythe won’t be beat for length and weight. For an extra inch I don’t doubt the XC will be a bit quieter. Likely close to the STi. Not impressed with magnus. TBAC is...
