I bought a carbon rogue 7PRC and couldn’t be happier. Didn’t love factory eld-x but shoots the eld-m great. If I would have read the Fierce disaster thread before hand I may not have bought one, but I’m happy with it.
One of my most successful hunting spots is heavily used by guys on atv’s and dirt bikes. I don’t typically hunt there other than the first and last hour of light, but we take elk, moose and deer out of that area every year.
It is great when you’re packing out and someone stops and ask if you...
I was deciding between the 2200 and 3600 and ended up going with the 3600. I could get 5-7 days in the 3600, so depending on how many days and what kind of gear you have I think either would work. I’m coming from a Kifaru Gnargali and I’m not a fan of having a bag that has tons of extra room...
Yeah 35 rounds down the barrel so far. I was more hesitant about the fierce than the actual cartridge, but the gun shoots lights out.
If I was doing 3 shot groups they’ve all been around 1/2 - 3/4 moa. I’m even ok with the speed, but who doesn’t like a little more.
Hopefully we can soon find...
Fierce Carbon rogue 22”
Hornady 175 eld-x
2771 fps with an es of 53
1.591 moa 15 round group
Honestly thought the speeds would be higher, but seems like Hornady’s backed off a bit since they first launched. Have some Federal 175’s on the way and hopefully get out in the next week or two to try those
As anyone tried strapping a head to the pack without a lid? I’m thinking about a 2200 but wondering if it’s better to step up to the 3600 with the lid to help securing heads for packouts
I’d pick him up a 7mm-08 in a rifle that feels right to him and has adjustability for him as he grows. There’s nothing wrong with the 6’s or 6.5’s I’m just partial to a 7mm and have taken everything from yotes to moose with the 08. But don’t overlook the 6.5’s because of lots of internet hate...
Mature cow 1st shot 250 yards double lung, ran 10 yards another shot through both lungs and she dropped. 143gr eldx, both bullets were found against the hide
357 & 356 GP area. 356 definitely has more bears but there’s still quite a few in 357 as well. I grew up back east and my first day out bear hunting after moving we stalked more bears than I’d ever seen lol
Agree with calgaryguy, Alberta has a ton of bears lots of colour phase bears as well if that’s something you’re looking for. I know where I hunt in Alberta it isn’t really physically demanding, but your chances of stalking a bear everyday or multiple times a day are pretty great
At least your buddy took his scope off lol. Took a buddy hunting for his first deer, him and his brother were out a few days before and “zeroed” his rifle. We were about half way to our spot and this deer comes out about 80-100 yards. I put up my Binos, he shoots which was a perfect shot. When I...
Managed to tag out yesterday in Alberta, arrowed the first one the last day of archery Sept. 23, 2023, then my wife filled her tag on Nov. 11, 2023. It’s been a great season so. Some awesome moose taken and congrats to all those successful hunters
The 270 win will kill anything you want it too. I hunt Alberta and have taken deer, elk, moose and black bear with a 270 and never felt under gunned. I have bigger rifles and right now my go to is my weatherby 6.5 RPM. If you are planning on shooting factory ammo I’d take a hard look at a 6.5...
