I agree with Steve on the point creep. Making everything limited will just push higher point holders to traditionally easier to draw units, in the short run. In the long run, it will become an increasing point situation for even the “easy” tags. Look at the WY general elk tag. They take a couple...
I like option 1. I don’t like points. Creep is an issue in the WY general areas as well. I’m just afraid in the long run it will limit opportunity, and I don’t want to sacrifice the OTC option.
If they did insist on making it limited I would prefer a random draw like NM for traditionally OTC areas.
I like this conversation. I’m from Missouri and grew up hunting whitetails in the timber. If you were in the woods you had one in the chamber. I ever climbed stands loaded without thinking about it. Never had any issues.
One year I was elk hunting in MT. Twice on that trip I noticed the bolt on...
I get wanting to make it clear that some homework has to be done, but being a jerk isn’t necessary. The guy asked to have a conversation, which I assume means in private. He said he intends to scout this summer. Seems pretty general to me. Certainly not asking for GPS coordinates. Just my 2 cents
Thinking archery. In WY specifically thinking the Bighorns or Snowies, don’t want to deal with Wilderness restrictions further west. For MT thinking the 300s.
GoHunt is predicting an increasingly hard general for NR in WY. Forgetting odds to draw and cost, how does the hunting compare?
So I’m curious about the logistics. I’m assuming you must provide your own stock trailer? Can you take them anywhere you want? I’m wondering about using some in NM and expect I’d have to trailer them a ways. What kind of rates, and how do they charge?
Anyone used them and have feedback? I’m really considering them for a wall tent setup to save space. I have a few questions for those with experience. With 2 people is movement really noticeable? I don’t want 2 people never sleeping because they keep each other up all night tossing and turning...
I’m curious what you’re reading into these stats. CO has fewer total tag holders than they did 30 years ago. Those holders have a few more tags, but number of people in the field doesn’t seem to be growing. Am I missing something?
BTW, thanks for the link. Fun to play with some of those figures.
As an archery hunter I’d be willing to give up the week of muzzleloader if they extended archery another week in Sep. if the problem is crowding and not harvest rates, that seems like an easy compromise with the least amount of change.
Sorry guys, I was on a quick scouting trip without consistent service. It does have the Bino tether straps. It is a Black Ovis custom model.
My inbox should have some room again. Kyle sent the first message so I’ll give him a chance again to claim it.
