Yea it was a lot of fun. I’m really happy with my hunt and feel like if I ever get that tag again I might consider getting a packer to take me in deep. But other than that, I’m glad I didn’t shoot a small forky on opening day like someone I watched.
Hey I actually did punch my tag on a cool 3x3. I didn’t see anything better at any elevation I could get to. Solo hunt and made a 357 yard shot. Was about 3 miles from my truck. Saw two other parties nearby and they both harvested 3x3s as well.
Thanks for the advice. I’m a little shocked that these issues have come up with only owning for a short period of time and shooting the rifle maybe 5-6 times. I don’t think have time to do all of this and get to the range before my hunt coming up, unfortunately. Once my hunt is over, I will...
I did just look at the DBM and it was position a noticeable amount outside of the two notches. It was above at almost 90 degrees to the top notch. I adjusted to center and it does seem to feed slightly better.
Torqued the action screws to 65lb.
Ordered Rocksett for the muzzle brake.
I took...
Thank you for all of this. It’s really helpful and I will definitely give it all a shot.
From my perspective, I shouldn’t really need to do any of the above for a $3k rifle. I get it, little things her and there will come up. But I’ve only had the gun in my possession since mid-April. During...
Well here I am. Maybe buyers remorse. Maybe just my luck.
This is only the second bolt gun I’ve ever purchased. My first was a very well-priced Bergara b14 that is amazing. How could the Premier line be anything but perfect?
Bought this rifle in April. Have a very difficult tag to draw...
Probably have about 60-80 rnds through this gun ahead of my muley season next month in the eastern sierras (once in a lifetime tag for me).
At the range today, my salmon river brake came loose. Probably the reason I couldn’t quite get my zero “perfect”. Me being hesitant to use the brake at...
For the most part I haven’t been getting up high enough in my opinion to see the big boys. I know eventually they’ll come down low and a few folks have mentioned some resident mature deer in the sage.
If September rolls around and I’m still not seeing something mature, I’ll have to charge...
Drew a tag in a CA x zone. Spent the week getting familiar with access, roads and trails. Glassed a few spots in the morning around 7000-9000 ft. Only spotted two forks and the rest doe/ fawns.
Question - are the bigger class bucks going to stay in higher elevations during summer? Season...
My first bolt gun on a chassis and it feels great. Trigger Hand position feels more natural. Love the folding stock, sits on the meat shelf of my mystery ranch great.
I have both Creedmoor (B14) and PRC (mg lite). PRC hops a bit more but after I put a brake on it’s much better, although very loud. I got the MG Lite in 6.5PRC because I live and hunt out west. Creedmoor is great, but the prc definitely takes the horsepower advantage.
Anyone had luck in any of the X9 zones? If so would you PM me? I drew a hard to get deer tag, and want to put my bear tag to good use as well while I’m up there.
I’m hoping to at least start seeing some deer the first week or so of the season. I know the weather will probably be a factor but just finding deer in areas I can get to alone and pack out is going to be priority for me.
My plan was spend a week up there next month drive around and...
