Any elk will work for me. Too many times I have passed on cows and come home empty handed. I don’t like that at all. I don’t need the antlers just to show pics and have some bragging rights. I like having the bragging rights of saying I filled my tag. 🤣
Naps. I actually fall asleep everytime I sit down. I can sit down with my pack on just leaning against a tree and I’ll be out in no time. Mostly because I sleep like crap every night, even at home. I much prefer to get up early and hike in so I can be there and ready before it gets light. I’ve...
It’s sneaking up on me quick! Never had a chance to get out in July since my wife was gone every weekend doing soccer camps for the girls high school team. Then I was gone doing camps, hiking, fishing for groups of teenage boys. School started August 6th. Fair season and the fall slaughter/meat...
I only shoot 1 arrow at a time then walk up and pull it. Usually about 3 weeks before the season starts. Repeat this about 8-10 times in a session at different ranges. Rest of the year I’ll shoot 2-4 arrows at a time.
I watched the review. Looks like a really nice broadhead but I would prefer it in a double bevel. I shot a single bevel one year and didn’t see anything better about them on the elk I killed. I just don’t get this whole single bevel craze.
I’ve never had any accidents right before hunting season thank goodness but have had plenty at other times. Right now the check engine light is on (probably an O2 sensor) 4wd needs serviced/ repaired, tires are bald, atv front tire with a split in the sidewall.
A few years ago my dad was in...
If it’s a fairly long distance then leapfrogging works well. I usually pack the first load of backstraps, tenderloins, neck and or rib meat
back to the truck then to camp. Come back the next day at first light then debone and start packing the rest. I also debone the meat in one big chunk and...
I have no experience shooting mechanicals but I wouldn’t hesitate to shoot one of the dead meat heads. When they are open they actually look similar to my exodus swept.
Same bow since 2012. Hoyt Carbon Element. 73# @ 28”. Arrows are Easton FMJ 340 cut to 27”. 50 grain insert and a 100 grain Exodus swept broadhead. 3 Blazer vanes. MBG single pin slider. QAD drop away.
Yep, I grind all my own meat. I have also been using a commercial processor for over 30 years. Meat always comes out fantastic and I always know it’s mine and that it’s well taken care of and clean.
Forgot to say that the commercial processor I use looks back at me in the mirror every morning...
I get up everyday around 4:30 already. Sometimes I can’t wait to get out of that sleeping bag and stretch my cramped muscles and sore back. 🤣 or to pee! Sucks getting old! I have to admit though that last year on day 10 I seriously thought about sleeping in. Forced myself to get out of bed and...
If you want to shoot a 340 then you need to cut that arrow down to 28” and don’t shoot so much weight up front. If you like the weight up front then a 300 spine would be better but I would still cut that arrow to 28”. My set up is a Hoyt Carbon Element 73# 28” draw length. Arrow is an Easton FMJ...
I’ve contemplated the same thing with my basement. Paint it or go with a drop away ceiling. I’m really leaning towards a drop away but I’m a long long ways away from finishing it. 🤣
No. Never have. I usually have a good locking folder clipped to my pocket all the time. For most things I prefer a fixed blade but the convenience of a folder is nice.
