Nice! Specifically targeting lions or incidental while calling other predators? Several different states?
I’ve killed two lions less than 10 yards away and neither were aggressive. Just reminded me of big house cats. More curious than anything.
Definitely not a god. Used to spend a good amount of time hunting/scouting and got lucky occasionally.
Time, being in shape, good optics, and decent shooting has led to decent success for myself and the people I hunt with.
I killed one. A buddy killed one. Same buddy messed up on one 2 days before the day he killed one. He had a special permit. I wasn’t packing a rifle since I didn’t have a special permit. He didn’t realize what it was. I was telling him to shoot and he’s looking at me like I lost it since he was...
Congrats to you BIL. When I lived there I saw 10 in 1 year. Last time I hunted it as a non res I saw 3 during that hunt. WA definitely has a high lion population.
There are hunters that kill lions every year without hounds specifically targeting them. There is a guy in Oregon with a few vids...
I would hunt WA if I was hunting otc out of state and didn't want to go to AK. Last time I researched WA had the highest bear density in the lower 48. You are allowed 2 bears a year there.
With a 4 month archery season. 2 week rifle season during the rut, and a muzzy season in December makes it tough for deer to get age on them. They just don’t have much escapement west river unless they live on private.
My Tikka 243 was tight with virgin brass. It also shot pretty poorly with multiple loads.
My Tikka 223 wasn’t tight on factory loads. But it also shot poorly with multiple loads.
Finally found a load for both that shoots decent. But it definitely was harder than expected.
You have to check the box to buy a license or something if drawn. If you don’t have that license they won’t send the tag I believe. You might check to see if you have that license. If you don’t they will wait until you purchase it to send tags.
I could be way out in another galaxy with this info.
Starline brass, Federal 210m, 108 ELD about 50 thou off, and I want to say max load of H4831sc but don’t hold me to it. I’ll check my notes when I get home and let you know exact.
It’s just a stock Tikka with the 8 twist. Probably could even shoot slightly better if I swapped the factory...
Mine shot fairly bad with H4350 and H1000. With multiple different bullets in the 105-112 grain range.
It finally started shooting decent with 108 ELD’s and H4831sc.
Hard to use them when they are at the repair shop.
I like rangefinding binos. But it’s hard to use binos that aren’t as good as 12NL’s after using the NL’s.
