    The 22 creedmoor thread

Yes new Alpha brass. I will look into ordering a neck sizing die. Hopefully that will help. Thanks

    The 22 creedmoor thread

Threw a slow twist 22” barrel on a Tikka I wasn’t using. I got hard bolt lift earlier than I expected. Overall it shot well but it’s slow. Suppressed it with a 338 Ultra. 39 grains Varget 53 Vmax Alpha 22 Creed SRP CCI 450 3600 FPS.

    Portable steel target setup

https://www.targethangingsolutions.com/product-page/limited-run-mobile-ar500-target-stand I’ve got one of these. Pretty easy to pack in/out. Biggest target I’ve hung off it was a life size coyote.

    Bag vs Bipod

Bipod with rear bag. I don’t have a bag big enough as a stand-alone, I’m not going to stack bags, and I don’t have a block sitting there to put a bag on. Plus since I’m going to use a bipod in the field I might as well use it at the range also.

With the size of the Creed case I would worry about bullets coming apart with a 1-7" depending on barrel length/velocity.

    Best cartridge for coyote/hog hunting in a factory tikka? 243 1:8 or 223 1:8

That’s a sweet setup! How are you liking the Vortex Impact? What clip on are you using?

How do you pay for your gear?

My kid started playing hockey a few years ago. Crazy how much it costs compared to sports I played growing up. Glad he isn't a goalie. It would be even worse. My day job easily covers whatever I decide to buy. I do try to buy at a discount, and I always use a credit card if possible. It's...

    RokStok

Faulty is probably the wrong word. The product description I read says nothing about having to possibly bed, grind, file, shim, etc to get your action to fit properly and feed properly. If this is the expected finished product, adding a line to the description mentioning you might have to...

Totally agree with just fixing it when it’s that simple even though a guy shouldn’t have to. I didn’t understand why the consumer would have to pay to send back a faulty product.

    Switching from minutes to mils

Without having a ruler in your optic I think the easiest way is to tell the shooter to hold x targets more left, right, up, down. So instead of the optic having a ruler the target is the ruler.

Why would the consumer have to pay to ship back a faulty product?

    Switching from minutes to mils

That’s the hard part for myself also. If I’m in the scope I can see and correct. If my kid is shooting and I’m in the spotter I can spot the shot. But I can’t correct him as well with MIL’s as I can with MOA.

    Titanium actions

Pretty sure @Weldor is talking about unscrewing the old barrel. I see it at work a fair amount. Usually when using regular carbon metal made up to stainless. Since the action is TI and the barrel is not, there is a definite chance of the threads being galled when unscrewing the barrel.

    NXS vs NX8 vs ATACR

I can’t say 100% yet. Besides the ocular rotating I really like the ATACR. I don’t care about the 1.4oz difference. Some people might. If I can get used to the ocular rotating the ATACR would probably be my choice if money wasn’t an issue.

    NXS vs NX8 vs ATACR

I just picked up a 4-16 ATACR. I’ve got a few 4-32 NX8’s. The ATACR definitely has a more generous eye box. The glass looks a little more clear. Also it isn’t 39oz. The ocular rotates when zooming in/out. In my head it’s a con. But I haven’t used it enough to say if it is or not yet. The NX8...

6 cm twist rates (7 vs 7.5) and elevation

I’ve seen more reports of ELD m’s going poof than any other bullet. I’ve had issues with the 52’s. When I contacted Hornady 300,000 RPM’s was their max. I wouldn’t be too worried about it. If for some reason you have issues you can always swap to Berger, Barnes, Sierra, etc. Even if you are...
