I agree with this. More faster = more better when it comes to night hunting. For whatever reason I struggle to judge distance very well with thermal so a flatter round keeps me from having to holdover as much.
Ok that makes sense. I always enjoy seeing what their flight patterns are. Some make perfect sense like the one you shot, but some don’t at all. I shot a pintail last year that was banded a week before I shot it and had flown hundreds of miles straight north against a major cold front/northern...
I’ll try to make this as nonpartisan as possible.
The race for new Senate Majority Leader is going on right now. The three men currently in the running are John Thune (SD), John Cornyn (TX), and Rick Scott (FL).
With a Republican president (not super pro-2A, but better than the other side)...
I’ve always assumed the majority of folks backpacked in for a few days to their hunting spots or hunted from a base camp at their truck to be more mobile, but on a recent hunt we ran into a lot of groups using stock of different kinds (mules, horses, llamas, etc).
I can’t get that article to open up without paying but I found a few others that talk about it.
Pretty interesting. It really seems a lot like the coyote hunting around here. You’ve even got anti-hunting groups trying to stop companies from using their hides as if that’s going to stop the...
As long as you get one that fits between their front two legs you should be fine. Super important to get one that fits there though and doesn’t rub. Even the soft neoprene ones will rub a dog raw if they aren’t cut down to avoid rubbing in their “armpit” area as that skin is really thin/soft.
That V-Max is my exact load! It’s hell on coyotes and I’ve put down quite a few prairie dogs out to 800 yards with it. I’ve also shot a lot of their 55gr SP just because they’re cheap and I’ve got hundreds of them laying around.
I’ve got one that’s attached to my shockwave that I use on occasion, but I don’t really think it makes a difference. Typically at least one person on my sets has a rifle so I’m not too concerned with them closing the last 100 yards to the call. And their eyesight isn’t that great to see it much...
I’ve used both. I tend to gravitate towards beef for regular ground as it makes it taste very close to beef. I can feed it to anyone interchangeably and they don’t notice. For sausage I prefer pork fat though. As previously stated it’s more neutral and I think it lets the sausage seasoning shine...
Does anyone in here have a pair of Duluth Pack chaps? I’ve been looking at getting a pair of Filson chaps but saw that they aren’t made in the US anymore. I started looking for something similar and stumbled on Duluth Pack. They look like a solid company and all handmade in the US. Doesn't look...
Yeah that’s why I haven’t really gotten into using a mouth call. (That and blowing one for that long makes me light headed haha).
How long do you run your call for? I’ll usually do 3-5 min stretches of sound and then cut it for 2-3 minutes. I feel that any longer breaks than that and they’ll...
Does anyone here that’s used an electronic call like a Foxpro still use mouth/hand calls? I live in an area where coyote calling has become really popular over the last 5 years or so and it seems the dogs have become more wise to the Foxpro. I’m wondering if switching to mouth calls would give...
