    Inline water filter ?

I just switched from pumping with my old PUR hiker to using the Sawyer mini. I'm doing the same thing as eltaco: squeezing dirty water back into my bladder inside the pack through the mini. It was a quick and easy set up and it's really slick. Then I don't have to dirty my big zip. I also...

    kifaru meat baggie capacity??

I have a Kifaru meat baggie and the I think the claim is that it will hold 100 lbs of meat but it looks a little small to actually hold 100 lbs. My question is this: has anyone actually put 100 lbs of meat (say an entire boned out mule deer) in one of these? On the last buck I boned out I got...

    Can't decide on a Broadhead

I've had good results on elk with the Magnus 4 blades. Taken 4 bulls with them. I prefer a lower blade angle head like the Magnus and steel force for large animals like elk. Accuracy is king though.

this will be unpopular i am sure

The fact that wolves eat elk and deer isn't up for debate. It's not really the issue here. The discussion goes further than that: How do we as hunters deal with that reality? What does the future hold and what if anything can we do about it? That discussion isn't so simple... imo.

this will be unpopular i am sure

liberal wackjobs, enviro wackos, wolf humpers, leaf licking tree huggers, chit sandwiches, and my favorite so far...fern fondlers: good stuff guys, very entertaining. But seriously wolves have invaded all my favorite elk honey holes during the past 5 years and therefore I have had to adapt and...

    sawyer mini and platypus?

Anyone tried to use the sawyer mini inline filter with a platypus big zip and hose? Could you cut the platypus hose and install the mini for inline filtration from the big zip? Thinking about reworking my water filtration/ storage system. I currently use a pur hiker but would like to use...

    Quilt pros cons

Makes sense. I'll have to try that with my quilt. I still think that as you roll over in your sleep and move around that drafts will open up unless there is some way that the entire length of the quilt from shoulder to foot is attached to the top of the pad so that it stays down?? Just...

    Quilt pros cons

I don't know...I have a JRB quilt rated for like 15 degrees and I will not use it outside of summer and early fall when temps are pretty warm and I want to be as light as possible. I had to add some elastic straps with velcro to it to go under my pad to keep it down and minimize the drafts but...

    What do you listen to?

Often times I'll listen to tunes (mostly hard stuff and always with headphones) when I'm on part of a hike that is a real grind, like coming out on a long trail, or just trying to get from a to b when I just need to put my head down and go. Don't like doing it at night in camp or in the dark...

    High Country Montana Mule Deer

If you have the time to scout take advantage of it. I've found that there's a lot of habitat that seems good but just doesn't hold many deer. As was mentioned earlier the deer densities in these areas are generally low and the distribution is patchy. It takes some homework to find the best...
