Really appreciate the advice.
I'm still definitely thinking of leaving the spotter. I hate the idea of a redundant headlamp but I'll put some thought into it.
I agree with the R1. I really do like it when I'm hiking but it does not stop the wind. I have a 240 vest but I may pick up the zip...
I'm throwing around the idea of not bringing my spotting scope. We are going to be in a pretty thick area and I don't think we will have the option to glass much further than 1,000 yards. Never been there though so it's really hard to say.
Any thoughts on spotter for this hunt? Mine comes in...
I've been a big fan of the Grumman puffy. It's actually one of my favorite pieces. I wore it hunting last year and wore it all winter non hunting. I haven't had any issues with quality or it being delicate. I've always been more careful when I wear down puffys anyway, but thought I'd throw in my...
I have one and would echo everything above. It’s not 100% perfect but it’s pretty dang great. It’s a weight hit compared to others but so much more versatile. I took my muley last year sitting with the legs extended enough to sit above a small bush.
I shoot the Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELDX with mine. That seems to be the favorite of most. I've been very happy with those rounds. Ammo is definitely a B**#! these days. I'd get on some sites and hit the notify me button. Cost has gone way up but once you see some in stock, hurry up and...
I really don't know because I haven't used the Athlon. I would still lean towards the 60 because you're getting more light.
My Gold Ring is the HD version by the way. At the end of the day, the spotter isn't going to be used that much compared to binos, and so I went with what I felt like was...
Welcome to Rokslide! I don't think you're going to have anyone tell you exactly where to sit. There are a ton of great post on here with good info though. I'd pull up some maps and just pick a place.
I use the dexcom combined with the Tslim 2 pump. So my readings are always on the pump. I do bring my cellphone as well, which can of course show my readings. I have a power bank that I bring because my pump uses a rechargeable battery. I just make sure it's fully charged when I start the hike...
Awesome write up! I’ve been Type 1 for 24 years now. Definitely takes more planning but I agree that the Dexcom is a game changer. Fruit snacks are my go too when low. They seem to bring up my lows faster than glucose tabs. I carry both just in case.
I also have to cut my basal by 50-60%. Blows...
