Here is the setup with the shapecharge. I used a guide lid kit to connect the bag to the frame. The straps are ran through the stand to compress it between the frame and the bag. Weight is approx 35 lb.
I just got a pair of uninsulated Nevadas. I was in the same boat picking insulated vs non. I hunt similar conditions primarily temps 20-50 with occasional colder days during deer rifle season (SW PA). The non insulated with a good sock will do the job on colder days I think.
Also I was...
For anybody interested I did end up getting a shape charge. I just haven't had time to mess around with the setup much yet. I will post a follow up once I figure out the best setup.
I had the same experience with the aeros. It wasn't for me. I got a packable pillow made by wise owl, it is much more comfortable. It packs up fairly small, about the size of a regular nalgene bottle.
I am interested in this as well. I have an alpha hang on. Hadnt thought about hanging dry bags on the stand. I usually can carry everything I need until ithe weather gets cold and I start needing layers to add once I'm in the tree.
I've done some digging and found a picture of a lone wolf stand...
I dont currently have access to a weight sled, so I started walking backwards up hills or stairs depending what I have access to. The overall mentality of the knees over toes movement patterns makes sense, it is strengthening the knees ability to absorb impacts, which isn't built into any...
Check out a Kifaru Shape Charge. It has the option to add a hip belt, has molle on the front to run straps to hold your sticks, and it eliminates the cost of buying a pack plus frame. May be a little pricey compared to other non frame pack offerings discussed here. But with Kifaru you have a lot...
Please feel free to discuss likes/dislikes or other direct drive trainer suggestions. These are my top 3 choices currently but they aren't set in stone.
For the shapecharge I didnt think of adding a grab it. I just planned to use buckle straps run through the stand to the shape charge and compress it via the pack. I'll have to look into that.
I do agree and like the stryker/hellbender attachment system, but my biggest concern is how high a tree...
Looking to hear opinions on what everybody's experience is with hauling a hang on stand (I have a lone wolf alpha) with a shape charge (adapted to a frame), stryker XL, or 22 mag. I'm looking for the easiest pack/unpack setup and also don't want the stand sticking way above my head. I have seen...
Hi everybody, new guy from SW PA, Westmoreland County. I primarily whitetail and turkey hunt locally, I'm looking to start consistently hunting elk/deer out west and mixing in whitetail trips. Joined the forums to gain some insight on hunting out west, maybe find some hunting buddies, and grab...
mtwarden, I am looking for a similar fit to what you describe, wide toe box with a normal midfoot/heel. The team at Blackovis recomended against the Thor 2, saying it is a narrower boot, but your description makes me think they may work for me. I dont have a wide foot persay, but I dont like...
